(4) GEMCOR DRIVMATICS, MODEL G1700

Purchased and installed in 1988. Rebuilt with new Fanuc 15MB CNC’s, PLC’s, Delta Tau motion controllers and hydraulics be-tween 1999 and 2005. These are 5 axes movement tools with Siemens control cabinets and modules. Process heads con-trolled by Delta Tau PMAC motion controllers integrated into each machine. Transfer heads controlled by hydraulic servos. Each Drivmatic has its own hydraulic power unit, 100 HP motor, and 200 gallon reservoir. They were designed specifically to at-tach the wide-body aircraft wing skin panels to stringers. These machines drill and install slug rivets with an upset force capable of 50,000 lbs. and then shave the top of the rivet flush with the wing skin. They also are capable of installing HiLoks and with special tooling can swage titanium collars onto the HiLoks. These Drivmatics can install various sized fasteners including 3/16, 1/4, 5/16, and 3/8. Depending on the size of the fastener they can install slug rivets at a rate of 6-9 rivets per minute. 10,224 fasteners are installed per ship set by the Drivmatic and takes 6 days to produce one skin panel assembly.

M Torres Station #3 Framing Station includes Broetje touch screen controls and Torrestool controller. Frame station tack fas-tens skin panels to frame and holds panels firmly in position as it transfers to Frame Riveting station

Siemens Station #2 Controllers and operation command center equipment. Consisting of Sie-mens Simatic Panel Touch screen controls and Sinumerik control panels, and (8) monitor Im-age Capture Control station

Broetje Automation 152703006 Station #2 Automated component/ rivet dispensing cabinet, 16 station cassette sys-tem. Mfg date 2011. The cassettes hold fasteners that are delivered pneu-matically to the Ring Riv-eter head

TORRES SKIN PANEL HOLDING TOOL AND SHUTTLE CARSBroetje Automation CNC Robotic Controlled Flexible Assembly Cell for Aircraft Fuselage Panel Assemblies. Contents as de-scribed in Lots 1 thru 21 in Boeing Sales Catalog. Fuselage Au-tomated Assembly Line designed and sized for manufacturing Superpanels for the Boeing wide-body aircraft. This 300 Ft. long assembly line was designed and installed in 1998 for manu-facturing large fuselage sections called Superpanels, which consists of several smaller panel assemblies spliced and riveted together in a Ring Riveter robot, and then internal frames are riveted to the Superpanel structure by a Frame Riveter robot, completing the assembly. It has since been through multiple up-grades and retrofits to keep pace with modern technological im-provements. This Broetje Automation Robotic Flexible Assembly Cell is also capable of work on most wide-body airframes. It con-sists of an elevated five position assembly line that transports panel assemblies through the two robotic riveters in a linear di-rection. Process flow starts with single panel assemblies being loaded onto a shuttle that sits atop the conveyor in Stations 0 or 1, and tack fastened together. The Superpanel assembly is then moved into the Ring Riveter in Station 2, where the skin panels are riveted together into one large panel section. The shuttle car is then moved to Station 3, where frames are manually installed to the superpanel assembly, and then the shuttle car moves to the Frame Riveter in Station 4, where the frames are fastened to the structure, completing the process. 11 different Superpanels were built by this assembly line at a rate of 16 aircraft per year. Flexible Tooling: The Ring Riveter drills, installs, and upsets flush, button head tension, or shear rivets, and flush, tension head lock bolts, or HiLoks with swaged collars. The rate is easily 10 fasten-ers per minute in a linear direction, less when navigating com-plicated structure where more machine movement is required. HiLoks installation is slower than rivets, requiring more machine movements. The Frame Riveter installs and upsets button head rivets and installs HiLoks; the collars are installed manually later.

M Torres Station #2. Ring Riveter. Automated system to include setting controls, cycling tool changes, overall dimensions 50 Ft. L, Width and Height for assembly of all wide-body aircraft (wide-body aircraft, 747, etc.), clamping force 200 - 650 lbs., upset force 12,000 lbs., positioning accuracy of ± 0.004 in. Rivet cycle is 8 rivets/ min including position-ing time (1 inch step) with capability for two-piece fastener installation. Automatic assembly of aircraft mega panels (up to 180° half barrels), all riveting operations through skin, e.g., longerons, doublers, tear strips, shear clips. Operation: automatic panel positioning, inner and outer rivet head positioning, clamping/ unclamping of work piece, drilling, counter-sinking, fastener selection, feeding/ inserting fastener (rivet or two piece fastener), upsetting rivet or installing collar, and measuring upset head of rivet. Special Features: tool changer for drill bits, rivet finger changer, high frequency 20,000 RPM spindle, sensor system-- Z sensor workpiece zero point and normality tack rivet detection, 11 axes robot control, automatic fastener selection system, TV monitoring, data collection for statistical process control, offline programming and training capability

Electroimpact ASAT4 The Automated Spar Assembly Tool or ASAT was installed in 1998. This 5 axis tool is controlled by a Fanuc 15MB CNC and uses the patented Electromag-netic Riveting (EMR) technology to install the fasteners. The dual processing heads allows the ability to install from both sides of the machine. Process heads are driven by linear motors. The fastener delivery system automatically selects fasteners based on material size and thickness. Includes 60 station dispensing for spar rivet delivery with an installation rate of 10 - 12 rivets per minute. The EMR drills over 40,000 holes and 28,500 fasteners per ship set delivered through (2) high speed Electroimpact spindles @ 15,000 rpm each. Originally developed for wide-body aircraft wing spars in the late 1970s. Since then this powerful concept has been further advanced and integrated into many wide-body aircraft wing lines. ASAT4 provides an unprecedented level of flex-ibility in a minimum amount of floor space. It was originally designed to install both slug rivets and HiLoks, swaging aluminum collars onto the HiLoks. It has a hole probe capable of measuring and recording the drilled hole dimensions for real-time operator process control. There are no hydraulics on the machine except for the spindle draw bar. The high speed transfer heads are powered by a linear motor.

M Torres Station #4 Frame Riveter. Automated system to include component/ pan-el position recognition, reference hole detection, tool positioning, drilling, selecting/ feeding/ inserting rivet, and upsetting rivet. Longitudinal travel (X-axis) 50 Ft., cross travel (Y-axis) 24 Ft. 3 in., vertical travel (Z-axis) 24 Ft. 3 in., tilt and swivel axis Roll (C) Max ± 98°, Pitch (B) Max ± 22°, Jaw (D) Max ± 182°, with position accuracy ± 0.0004 in. Special Features: automatic tool changer for End Effector, TV monitoring, data col-lection for statistical process control, automatic rivet selection system, 3 linear axis, 3 rotary axis, and sensor system for tack rivet detection. Automatic assembly of structure (e.g., frame to shear clip connections) of wide-body aircraft 180° mega panels. Rivet cycle is 4 rivets/ min including positioning time (1 in. step). Performs drilling, coun-tersinking, feeding and inserting rivet, and upsetting rivet, and measurement of upset head. Riveter dimensions approx. 33 L x 33 W x 38 H inches, weight approx. 900 lbs., upset force Max 6,000 lbs., clamping force Max 880 lbs., throat depth 24 in
