DESCRIPTION
Forests are a world apart. They are at the centre of world-wide conservation issues and the battle to save them goes beyond mere environmental problems. If they diminish in size or if they disappear altogether, it will be a serious threat to mankind and society as we know it; forests have always been essential for man’s ecosystem and development and a means of fighting drought and erosion. They represent both huge sources of green energy and are the habitat for the world’s wildlife, animals and plants alike. If these huge green lungs were to disappear, man would be deprived of most of the oxygen he breathes. He would also be deprived of one of the main sources of beauty on earth.
