World Geocoder for ArcGIS®

The capability for Esri customers to do world geocoding from a public online service already exists in ArcGIS Online, but the World Geocoder for ArcGIS extends the reach of Esri’s global geocoding capability to those organizations who:

need to assure strict privacy of their data (behind the firewall)

want to have fixed, predictable cost for geocoding global addresses

require control over response time and availability World Geocoder for ArcGIS enables you to map worldwide addresses quickly and accurately behind your firewall at a fixed One Year Term License cost. Input addresses from around the world and accurately display them on a map using one single locator. World Geocoder for ArcGIS is built using the best available reference data from authoritative sources to provide geocoding for over 245 countries, with high location accuracy geocoding for 110 countries down to street-level precision. World Geocoder for ArcGIS is licensed as a One Year Term License and consists of Data/Locators, ArcGIS for Server software, and Professional Services. The ArcGIS for Server software included with the World Geocoder for ArcGIS is to power the geocoding capability of this solution and is considered separate of any existing ArcGIS for Server software, even those acquired through an Enterprise License Agreement (ELA).

World Geocoder for ArcGIS is licensed as aOne Year Term License. The subsequent right-to-use license of the World Geocoder for ArcGIS is acquired through the subsequent purchases of One Year Term Licenses. As long as subsequent One Year Term Licenses are purchased, the World Geocoder for ArcGIS includes an update approximately every six months depending on availability and a mutually agreed upon customer location and time for the installation.

Key Capabilities of the World Geocoder for ArcGIS

Interactive Search – locate an address on the map one request at a time. Suggestions feature is built-

in, to get list of multiple candidates as you type.

Batch Geocoding – submit spreadsheet or a table of addresses and get the coordinates in one process. A

very powerful GIS task for users.

Reverse Geocoding – submit a coordinate and get back a textual description of the location, in the form

of an address or place. This is a great solution for your field workers using ArcGIS on mobile.

A GIS analyst who needs to batch geocode effectively an unlimited number of features (up to 5

billion geocodes per year, quantity estimated based on geocoding during normal business

hours, 220 days / year, 8 hours / day).

A group of up to 1000 call center representatives can simultaneously search for individual

locations on a map.

World Geocoder for ArcGIS – Standard

A GIS analyst who needs to batch geocode a very large number of features (up to 1 billion

geocodes per year - quantity estimated based on geocoding during normal business hours, 220

days / year, 8 hours / day).

A group of up to 400 call center representatives can simultaneously search for individual

locations on a map.

World Geocoder for ArcGIS – Basic

A GIS analyst who needs to batch geocode a large number of features per year up to a maximum of 250 million geocodes. To geocode more than 250 million locations, an upgrade to Standard or Advanced is required.

A group of up to 400 call center representatives can simultaneously search for individual

locations on a map.

Esri Professional Services

World Geocoder for ArcGIS includes and requires installation by Esri Professional Services. Scheduling for such services will be made upon completion of the sale and assurances that the required hardware is on hand at the customer site. Professional Services will configure the system to the specified product option purchased.

Initial Professional Services Installation—Professional Services for the World Geocoder for ArcGIS provides an initial visit of up to five (5) days of on-site support to configure the data as a geocoding service on an on-premises ArcGIS for Server environment (running in a physical environment or in a private cloud) by one (1) Esri Consultant. The installation and configuration consists of the following activities to setup the geocode service: data setup, set service capacity, publishing a test service, publishing the suggestions service, publishing the broker service, and testing the world service. Once the geocode service is successfully published, the Esri consultant will configure the service within the customer’s environment. If installation and configuration are completed prior to the completion of the five (5) day engagement, any additional remaining on-site time can focus on knowledge transfer on managing the World Geocoder for ArcGIS and general knowledge on geocoding.

Subsequent Professional Services Visits—During the 2nd half of the first One Year Term License, and twice a year for all subsequent One Year Term Licenses purchased, Professional Services includes a visit of up to three (3) days of on-site support to perform an update of the World Geocoder for ArcGIS during which the Esri consultant will refresh the data and/or software with the then latest version that has been certified for that specific World Geocoder for ArcGIS release.

The Professional Services included with a One Year Term License includes airfare, hotel, car rental, per diem, and other direct costs. On-site support will be provided at a mutually agreed upon customer location and performed on consecutive business days during a single work week. Updates will be provided at the same mutually agreed upon customer location during one trip on consecutive business days during a single work week.

Days on-site are not to exceed (8) hours of work per day.

Professional Services must be completed within the One Year Term License period. After this period, any unused services will become void.

Agreement Requirements

The ArcGIS for Server software and Data/Locators included with the World Geocoder for ArcGIS solution requires terms of the agreements that can be found at http://www.esri.com/legal/software-license. All Professional Services included with the World Geocoder for ArcGIS solution will be performed in accordance with the terms and conditions of Implementation Services Addendum for Services Packages (G-363D). Hardware Requirements

Single server with exactly 16 cores (16 cores is required to support solution; license restricts additional cores)

256GB of RAM

400GB+ SSD drive The customer is responsible for providing the server hardware necessary for the World Geocoder for ArcGIS solution. Should a customer want Esri to provide an additional purchase option for the actual servers, please contact EsriHWRequest@esri.com.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cloud Requirements Minimum requirements:

A Virtual Machine (VM) with 16 physical cores (or 32 virtual cores) and 244 GB of RAM (16 cores is required to support solution; license restricts additional cores)

A VM with at least 400 GB of SSD based local storage

Each subsequent version of the World Geocoder for ArcGIS will contain release notes explaining the changes to the data coverage and product capabilities.
