Dear Parents/Caregivers
Election Day BBQ & Cake Stall
Thank you very much to our hardworking P&C. The stall was fantastic. In next
week’s newsletter the Pie Drive Order form will be attached.
Big Scrub Interest Day
I can’t believe a whole year has passed since our last one. Each year in Term 2 our
students are bussed to different schools for some incredible activities. This year
students in Kindergarten, Year 1 & Year 2 will be going to Blakebrook PS;
students in Years 3 & 4 will be going to Coffee Camp PS and students in Years 5
& 6 will be staying here at Caniaba for a ‘Maths in Nature’ Day. Please see the
attached permission slip and return as soon as possible.
This Friday 24th May Years 5& 6 will be running the Assembly from 12:45p.m.
I have seen the rehearsals and it looks amazing. Hope you can make it.

K/1S SIMULTANEOUS STORY
Yesterday, K/1S along with 2/3/4C participated in National Simultaneous Story
time. We joined over 1,085,587 participants across Australia and New Zealand
reading Alpacas with Maracas by Matt Cosgrove. K/1S were also lucky enough to
listen to a reading of the story by the Gold Coast Titans. Our favourite part of the
day was creating our own maracas using bottles and rice.

This week was National Simultaneous
Storytime. For 2019, the Australian
book chosen was ‘Alpacas with
Maracas’ by Matt Cosgrove. This book
has a great rhyming pattern where
each pair of lines rhymes. 2/3/4C
have created their own list of things
they would try if they were an alpaca,
experimenting with rhyming words for
our classroom display. This will lead
into our new poetry unit that we are
exploring for term 2.
THE DINGO PUP
The Dingo pup to his mother said,
“It's time I go for my daily bread.
Out in the world I intend to go
You will be surprised of the things that I know.
There's a wild duck’s nest in a sheltered spot
I will go down and eat the lot.”
And when he got to his destined prey
He found that the ducks had flown away.
But there was one ducks egg that would quench his thirst
He bit the egg and it went up with a BURST!
It burst with a BANG!
And the Dingo pup turned and fled
He thought that the egg had shot him dead!!!!
