Once a regional ferry passenger operator, FRS has in the past few decades grown into an internationally active group operating 70 vessels and employing more than 2,000 employees from 42 countries from five continents. In recent years FRS carried annually 7.9 million passengers and 2.1 million vehicles on its numerous national and international ferry and catamaran routes.
The roots of FRS go back to 1866, when the first steam ship passenger service on the Flensburg Fjord started under the flag of the company "Flensburg-Ekensunder Dampfschiffsgesellschaft" (FEDG). In 1935 "Förde- Reederei GmbH" was founded by about 100 merchants from Flensburg in Northern Germany to supersede the promising business of FEDG in an emerging market.
In the 1950s, these services were extended to offer so-called "Butter Tours". These day cruises to Denmark were primarily aimed at providing an opportunity for duty-free shopping on board. In the 1960s, numerous new vessels were commissioned for this service while in the 1970s capacities were further expanded by the acquisition of large ships for up to 1,200 passengers. At times, up to 22 ships offered their guests the opportunity to use their duty-free allowance on trips from Germany to Denmark and back.
In 1958, the shipping company "KG Seetouristik GmbH & Co.", also from Flensburg, became acti-ve in this sector as well. As the elimination of the duty-free system by the European Union loomed, "För-de-Reederei" and "Seetouristik" merged into the joint venture "FRS GmbH & Co. KG" (FRS) in 1991.
FRS successfully developed new business activities by starting ferry routes in the Strait of Gibraltar, between Spain and Morocco and former routes in Poland, Russia and between Finnland and Estonia.
In 2016, FRS celebrated an important milestone with its 150th anniversary. With a proven track record of tra-
dition married with application of new technology, FRS Group has become what it is today:
An internationally operating group with proven
history and a consistent eye towards future growth.""

In addition to its fast ferry service, FRS connects the Moroccan port Tangier Med with the ports of Al-geciras, Gibraltar and Motril with its modern RoPax ferries MS "Tanger Express"and MS "Kattegat". High payload capacity along with FRS´ accustomed high standards of qua-lity, safety and security are the hall-marks of these multi-purpose ferries that sail between the South of Spain and the North of Morocco carrying trucks, trailers, cars and buses. The route from the port of Motril to Tangier MED, with its excellent infrastructure and geographical
location, offers FRS´ cargo clients an attractive alternative to reach the port of Tangier Med, which is considered as the "Gate to North Africa". In 2018, FRS broadened its ser-vice offerings in the region by ta-king over Motril to Melilla service from another market participant. This line it is operated with the Ro-Pax vessel MS “Volcán del Tauce”, offering service to passengers as well as cargo clients.

A ferry crossing has been in existen-ce here since 1963, connecting List on the island of Sylt with Havneby on the neighbouring Danish island of Rømø. A toll-free causeway road links Rømø to the mainland.
The crossing became part of the FRS' portfolio in 1979. In 2005, the Rømø-Sylt Linie (RSL) deplo-yed a new modern double-ended ferry, the MS "SyltExpress"and in 2019 the even larger and environ-mental friendly double-ended ferry MS "RömöExpress" complemented
this route. The MS "RömöExpress" and MS "SyltExpress" are particu-larly suited to carry vehicles of all kinds, even oversized vehicles and heavy goods. By this, the vessels strengthen RSL’s year-round sup-ply service for Sylt, but also offers tourists the unique maritime expe-rience of arriving and departing on the waterway. On this route, which is extremely popular with day tou-rists, around 398,000 passengers and 121,995 vehicles are moved every year.

One of the most frequently used river Elbe crossings
The history of the ferry connection between Glückstadt and Wisch-hafen begins over 100 years ago. Then as now, it is one of the most important and most frequently used river Elbe crossings and saves a distance of up to 120 km via Hamburg. The connection also offers a good connection for the supply service to the North Sea islands and seaside resorts in the large surrounding area. The fastest connection between Schleswig-Hol-stein and Lower Saxony is ensured with 4 modern ships. They transport
people, bicycles, cars, camper, buses and trucks, including heavy loads, with departures in the high season of every 20 minutes. The Elbfähre has been acquired by FRS in October 2020 and transports more than 600,000 vehicles per year. We are very happy that Mrs. Both-Walberg and the two other shareholding families gave their trust towards FRS and are looking to develop this line further.

In Wolfsburg, a solarpowered catamaran brings guests from the main Volkswagen "Autostadt" visitor centre to the off-campus "Safety-Parcour" driver training facility. This route was previously served by two conventional pas-senger ferries, which are now used for shuttle services and "Pano- rama Tours" around the"Auto- stadt" campus from Wolfsburg- Autostadt to Wolfsburg-Fallers- leben and back.
The propulsion of these remark- able ships is provided by two electric motors that are powered by solar cells on the vessel´s roof. The solar ferries can be operated predominantly with solar energy as long as there is sufficient sun- light for the panels to harvest. In case the sun does not suffice, the batteries can also be charged overnight with electricity from the local grid. The ships constitute a significant innovation in the public
transport sector. The operation of such eletrically-powered ferries, in this size and number, is unique in Germany.

In 2014, Weiße Flotte brought four innovative solar-powered ferries into service for the Berliner Ver- kehrsbetriebe (BVG) in Berlin. The company operates these eco- friendly ships on two year-round' routes plus two seasonal lines. They can each accommodate up to 49 passengers.
And last but not least, the Weiße Flotte operates a rowing boat ferry on behalf of the public transporta-tion services "Berliner Verkehrsbe-
triebe (BVG)" in Berlin. The route exists for more than 100 years. The group’s smallest vessel, the rowing boat "Paule III" entered service in 2015 and is able to transport eight passengers or four passengers plus four bicycles.

FRS Windcat Offshore Logistics (FWOL) combines long experience and considerable know-how of two companies which are well known in the shipping world: FRS and Wind-cat Workboats. With years of expe-rience in the offshore wind industry, FWOL has successfully completed more than 1.6 million of safe trans-fers to wind turbines.FWOL provides tailor-made logistics concepts for each project according to its individual requirements.
Furthermore, FWOL is a reliable partner for crew transfer services, employing efficient and continuous-ly upgraded vessels. This emphasis on new technolgy has, for example, already led to the reduction of typi-cal hourly fuel consumption to less than 200 litres, while maintaining a service speed of 25 knots. The fitting of catalytic converters for the reduction of NOx emissions further underscores the vessels' pioneering position with respect to environ-mental friendliness.
The Windgrip System, a unique ro-bust and efficient transfer system developed by Windcat Workboats, ensures safe transfers even in roug-her sea conditions while saving up to 300 litres of fuel per day. This won the Windgrip System the “Renewa-ble UK Health and Safety Award” in 2016. In addition, the improved sta-
