Who knows what the day will bring? Many of us love to plan and have our schedules laid out perfectly--but what assurance do we have that everything will happen according to our plan? When something unexpected arises, does it throw us off course?

We are so blessed that we do not need to live in fear of what will come--today, tomorrow, or even at the end of the world. As believers and disciples of Jesus Christ, we can instead stand in awe of what God is doing around us each day and what is to come. It is amazing to think that one day, we shall all be gathered with God--with all those who have gone before us.

“But of that day or hour, no one knows, neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.” Mark 13:32

What a gift this is to us! Because we do not know the day or the hour, we can live every day and hour to the fullest--embracing the joy and peace that our faith in God brings to us, and sharing the love of Christ with those around us. May we be among those who have led others to justice and shine “like the stars forever.”

WELCOME TO WORSHIP AT EPIPHANY CATHOLIC CHURCH 33rd SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME – November 13-14, 2021

“Faith is to believe what you do not see; the reward of this faith is to see what you believe.” St. Augustine

ENTRANCE SONG: Shine, Jesus, Shine Graham Kendrick Lord, the light of your love is shining in the midst of the darkness, shining; Jesus, Light of the World, shine upon us, set us free by the truth you now bring us: shine on me, shine on me. Shine, Jesus, shine, fill this land with the Maker's glory. Blaze, Spirit, blaze, set our hearts on fire. Flow, river, flow, flood the nations with grace and mercy.

Send forth your word, Lord, and let there be light! Lord, I come to your awesome presence, from the shadows into your radiance; by the blood I may enter your brightness, search me, try me, consume all my darkness: shine on me, shine on me. GLORIA Norah Duncan Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to people, people of good will. (Amen, amen, amen. Amen, amen, amen) We praise you, we bless you, we adore you, we glorify you, we give you thanks for your great glory. Lord

God heavenly King, O God, almighty Father. Lord Jesus Christ, only begotten Son, Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father, you take away the sins of the world,

have mercy on us; you take away the sins of the world, receive our prayer; you are seated at the right hand, at the right hand of the Father, have mercy on us.

For you alone are the Holy One, you alone are the Lord, you alone are the Most High, the Most High, Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit, in the glory of God the Father.

HOMILY

PROFESSION OF FAITH: Nicene Creed I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible. I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages. God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; through him all things were made. For us (men) and for our salvation he came down from heaven, and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became [hu]man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets.

I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church. I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen.

PETITIONS Response: May your Spirit guide us, O Christ.

PREPARATION OF GIFTS: Canticle of the Turning Irish Traditional Arr. by Rory Cooney My soul cries out with a joyful shout that the God of my heart is great, and my spirit sings of the wondrous things that you bring to the ones who wait. You fixed your sight on your servant's plight, and my weakness you did not spurn, so from east to west shall my name be blessed. Could the world be about to turn? My heart shall sing of the day you bring. Let the fires of your justice burn. Wipe away all tears, for the dawn draws near, and the world is about to turn. Though I am small, my God, my all, you work great things in me, and your mercy will last from the depths of the past to the end of the age to be. Your very name puts the proud to shame, and to those who would for you yearn, you will show your might, put the strong to flight, for the world is about to turn. From the halls of power to the fortress tower, not a stone will be left on stone. Let the king beware for your justice tears ev'ry tyrant from his throne. The hungry poor shall weep no more, for the food they can never earn; there are tables spread, ev'ry mouth be fed, for the world is about to turn. Though the nations rage from age to age, we remember who holds us fast: God's mercy must deliver us from the conqueror's crushing grasp. This saving word that our forebears heard is the promise which holds us bound, 'til the spear and rod can be crushed by God, who is turning the world around. © 1990, GIA Publications, Inc. Reprinted under ONE LICENSE A-702360.

EUCHARISTIC ACCLAMATIONS Brown, Wise

Holy, holy, holy, holy, holy Lord God of Hosts. Heaven and earth are filled with Your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord God of Hosts. Hosanna in the highest! Hosanna in the highest! (the mystery of faith…) Save us, Savior of the world, for by your Cross and Resurrection you have set us free, you have set us free. (Through him, and with him, and in him, O God, almighty Father, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all glory and honor is yours, for ever and ever.) All: Amen! Amen! Amen, amen, amen!

“Every priest stands daily at his ministry, offering frequently those same sacrifices that can never take away sins….Where there is forgiveness of these, there is no longer offering for sin.” Hebrews 10:11,18

Stewardship is not about guilt, but rather gratitude and service. The motto for stewardship is not, “give until it hurts,” but “give until it feels good.”

Worship Center Glass Replacement InformationOur window vendor is moving along quickly and efficiently on the replacement of the Worship Center windows. We benefited during our second week of work by having two crews working independently on two separate sections. We hit “pause” the first week of November to ensure a successful Parish Mission, but a doubled crew will be here again the week of November 15 to finish the project.

During the renovation, the Worship Center is closed to the public on weekdays; however, the Blessed Sacrament Chapel is open for prayer. Weekday Masses will be in the Lighthouse, funerals will be offsite, and weekend Masses will still be in the Worship Center. If you have questions, contact [email protected].

2021 Catholic Campaign for Human Development CollectionNext week is the annual collection for the U.S. Bishops’ anti-poverty program, the Catholic Campaign for Human Development. More than thirty-eight million people in the United States live in poverty. This collection supports programs that empower people to identify and address the obstacles they face as they work to bring positive and permanent change to their communities. Twenty-five percent of the funds collected will remain in our Archdiocese to fund local anti-poverty projects. Please give generously by check (made out to Epiphany with CCHD in memo line) or online: https://epiphanycatholicchurch.weshareonline.org/. Be sure to give by Monday, November 22. For more information about the Catholic Campaign for Human Development, visit www.usccb.org/cchd. Thank you!
