Dear Friends, I’m going on vacation this weekend for two weeks so I thought I’d share a couple of items that I know will be of interest to you. First of all, I’d like to update you on the work that will be done as a result of the Our Faith, Our Home, Our Promise Capital Campaign. Thanks to your generosity, our Campaign is working out very well. To date we’ve raised over $708,000 and currently, we have cash on hand of $175,000. Much of that money has gone to the pointing work on the church, the repair of one of the rose windows, painting the window trim of the building, and the repair of the stained glass windows. The next phase of work to be done on the church is to redo the front steps. Because our cash on hand is $175,000 and the estimate for the steps is in the area of $500,000, we have asked and received from the Archdiocese a guarantee for a bridge-loan of $350,000 to cover that expense, if it becomes necessary. The flow of money coming into the Campaign account is about $30,000 a month so we will have no problem paying that money back to the diocese. Our Building and Grounds Committee has developed a bid package for the work to be done on the steps. That package has gone out to four contractors we will hear back from them by July 21. At that time, we will review their bids, award the contract, and then determine when the work can commence. The Committee estimates that it should take between four to five months to complete the job. Again, it is only because of your generosity that this has been possible. Capital campaigns are about the needs of a parish that require large uses of money, such as building repairs and renovations, major program initiatives, etc. In addition to those special purposes, parishes also have their daily, ordinary expenses, such as salaries, health care and other benefits, utility bills, cleaning, repairs, and the running of the regular programs that are so important to a parish’s life: liturgy, Faith Formation, St. Anne School, adult education, youth group, scouts, basketball, food pantry, home visitations, and our other ministries and organizations. It’s to this ordinary use of our financial resources that I’d like to alert you. I’ll be sending home a letter to everyone explaining our situation. Briefly, we are running in the red as we try to balance the income we all donate each week with the expenses I just listed. I’m sure you’ve seen this in the bulletin. We’ve usually been able to cover the yearly shortfall through your generosity and through bequests and savings, but other demands have outpaced our ability to continue doing this. Our Finance Committee has recommended that we make some significant adjustments in those expenses and that’s what the letter I’ll be sending home addresses. My responsibility to you demands that we keep our fiscal house in order. So, please read that letter and let me know what you think. Together, and through the Lord’s inspiration, we will weather this. Love, Fr. Joe

ALTERNATIVE TO ABORTION If you know

someone who is considering having an abortion, here is

a number they might call that could be of help to them to

consider an alternative to this practice. The number is

1-800-395-HELP (4357).

2017 INTENTIONS AVAILABLE

There are still 2017 intentions available for the Bread & Wine,

Altar Candles and Sanctuary Lamp. Please visit the Church

Sanctuary Lamp in memory of a loved one or in thanksgiving.

Weekly intentions are $15.00 each.

For the month of July, Pope Francis asks us to pray especially ...that our brothers and sisters who have strayed from the faith may--through our prayers and witness to the Gospel--rediscover the merciful closeness of the Lord and the beauty of the Christian life.

REFLECTION Isaak’s penitential psalm, unaccompanied.

Again, and yes again, O Ceaseless Tolerator of our bleaking recurrences, O Forever Forgoing Foregone (sans conclusion), O Inexhaustible, I find my face against the floor, and yet again my plea escapes from unclean lips, and from a heart caked in and constricted by its own soiled residue. You are forever, and forever blessed, and I aspire one day to slip my knot and change things up, to manage at least one late season sinlessly, to bow before you yet one time without chagrin. -Scott Cairns

STEWARDSHIP REFLECTIONS 15th Sunday of Ordinary Time “The seed sown among thorns is the one who hears the word but then the cares of the world and the lure of riches choke the word and it bears no

fruit.” (Matthew 11:30) Does the lure of riches and material goods choke God out of your life? Are you so caught up in worldly activities that you have no time for God? Stewardship is a lifestyle to be lived every day. It effects all the decisions we make. What we receive at Mass every Sunday should be shared with others all the other days of the week.

A Word from Pope Francis: Religious freedom is not a right which can be

guaranteed solely by existing legislation, although

laws are necessary. Rather religious freedom is a

shared space, an atmosphere of respect and

cooperation that must be built with everyone’s

participation.

We are grateful to the 1,070 people who worshipped with us the weekend of July 1-2 and contributed $13,047.00 in the offertory and $3,124.00 through Online Giving offertory, which along with

other fees and donations, total $19,695.00. We are also grateful to the 1,227 people who worshipped with us last weekend and

contributed $11,140.00 in the offertory and $2,887.00 through Online Giving offertory, which along with other fees and donations, totaled $19,500.00. Our weekly expenses average out to $20,348.00.

Heating & Air Conditioning ~ Everyone knows that there are some months in which our electricity bill or heating bill is higher than others.

Well, it’s the same with the Church. As you know, we use an additional way of paying for our extra energy

months. In the back of the church each Sunday you will find separate ENERGY envelopes. If you should

happen to hit the jackpot that week, and wish to throw a dollar or two in that envelope, we’d greatly appreciate

it! You can throw these special envelopes right in the collection with your regular envelope. The energy

envelopes will not be mailed to you. They will simply be in the back of the church, so if you don’t spot them, be

sure to ask the ushers at your Mass. Thanks.

Online Giving…

You have the opportunity to make donations to our Sunday collection online! To sign up, go to the St. Anne website – www.stannefairlawnnj.org

There are several ways to access the system: 1. Underneath the scrolling slideshow on the home page, on the bottom right-hand corner, you will

see a light blue icon with a $ sign. Click that icon to go directly to the system.

OR 2. From the homepage, check the left-hand menu options. The second to last menu option says

“envelopes & online giving.” Click that link, and a page with various giving options will appear.

Select the Online Giving option to be taken directly to the system.

Once you are taken to the new site, click on the section that says Create New Account. Next you will see New User Account Registration. Fill out the form and click “submit.” When you are enrolled, you can go into Manage My Account, where you will see My Payment Methods. Here you can choose to have the funds deducted from your checking or bank account (you will need your routing and account numbers on hand). Under Manage My Account, you will also see Give a New Gift. There you will decide when and how much to give. (In the list, Offertory Collection means the Sunday collection.) You can select recurring or one time gifts. You also have the option to access all the other special envelopes you would normally find in your envelope packet and which are generally one-time donations.

Each time you go to Mass, get a card that says “I have made my donation online” and put it in the collection when the usher comes around. Thanks so much for giving online!
