Memorial Day Mass
NOTE: On Monday, May 27th (Memorial Day) Confessions will not be held.
I read an article written by some-
one who is not Catholic. She wrote
that what she admires most about
Catholics is that they are
“wonderful at being sad.” It’s true
that some people are better at
being sad than others. We Catho-
lics have things like Lent, penance,
sacrifice, solemn vigils, and a three
-dimensional corpus of Jesus on our crucifixes to deepen our
understanding that sorrow is important. It can bear fruit and
even be beautiful when it is carried in grace. We know that
sentiments such as “Don’t worry, everything will be OK” might
not be as satisfying to our spirits as, “God is here and that is
enough.”
Some people, too, will commemorate Memorial Day better
than others. Beyond just beer, barbecues, and mattress sales,
it’s good to take some appropriate time for prayer, gratitude,
remembering, honoring, and even somber grieving for many
who have made the ultimate sacrifice for us. It’s important and
beautiful. Have a meaningful Memorial Day.

What troubles your heart and makes you

Please take time today to discuss this question with

Gospel Question of the Week
It is never easy to say goodbye, and it is always
harder when it is someone who has made such a
lasting impact. So, it is with deep gratitude and
sadness that we say farewell to Zach Zaldivar, our
Coordinator of Middle School Youth Ministry. He has
been an incredible member of our staff and he will be sorely
missed. Zach and his family will be moving to Denver, Colorado
(home for his wife) in July. We wish him well and know that he
will continue to be a blessing to everyone he encounters.
