I do not find Henry Adams’ criticism is to be very valid. Sure, maybe Jefferson was a bit

lead America on a more pro!ressive and democratic course. He wanted to limit the role of the national !overnment, opposed Ale%ander Hamilton’s economic pro!ram, !enerally

supported the &rench $evolution, opposed Jay’s #reaty and favoured closeness to &rance,

and opposed the Alien and Sedition Acts and the enlar!ed army as threats to individual.He drew the stron!est support from most of America, the South and the 'est.
