A similar situationwas seen in thewholesale andretailtradesector,wherethenumberofwomenrosefromabout550000in1995toalmost800000,twodecades later. The number ofmen in this sector remained stable over the period, at around 700 000.Womenalsomadegainsinboththefinance/bankingindustriesandinthedefence-relatedpublicsector.Whereas,some125000womenworkedinfinanceandbankinginstitutionsin1995,thenumberincreasedto450000by2005.Thenumberofmengrewonlymarginallyfrom425000to480000overthesameperiod.
