Why do we need to use learning logs during class?Learning Logs helps you to FOCUS on what
you are learning in classes by:Writing your thoughtsWriting your reactionsWriting your responses to class lectures,
videos or discussions
Learning Logs….- help us use writing as a process of
discovery and to clarify ideas-may on occasion replace cornell notes when
a class is not conducive to note taking-helps us make personal connections with
subject matter-resulting in meaningful learning!!

Basic Learning Log Questions1. What did you do in class today?2. What did you learn?3. What did you find interesting?4. What questions do you have about what
you learned?

Writing About MathematicsWrite a letter to another student in the class explaining, in detail, how to do a math problem that you are studying. This will force you to slow down and think carefully about the process that you go through in learning a math concept or solving a math problem
Writing about Social Studies“you are there” scenes: Place yourself in an historical period or event that you are studying and write about it from the point of view of someone who is there. In your response, focus on the questions of “what, who, why, how and what if.” Share and discuss your responses with other members of class.
