Horrigan Learning Center educates over 90 three and four year olds. All programs follow the recommended curriculum of the Archdiocese. Classes are offered in religion, Spanish, music, art, library science, physical education and computer literacy. Catholic students in the early grades are afforded the opportunity to receive the sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist. Students in grades six, seven and eight may receive the sacrament of Confirmation every third year. Students in grades K – 8 attend a weekly liturgy at St. James. A government sponsored hot lunch program is offered daily throughout the school year calendar. Opportunities are offered to students to perform on stage in teacher directed plays and programs which are usually scheduled in the fall and the spring. A family does not have to be of the Catholic faith to attend St. James School. St. James motto is Soaring Above with th following core values: a.) modeling faith; b.) embracing faith; c.) respecting diversity; d.) differentiating instruction; e.) celebrating tradition.

Internet Safety Goals: In this section include the goals your school has set to insure the education of all students regarding Internet safety.

Needs Assessment: In this section include the results of your needs assessment. What plans do you have to provide students of all ages and abilities accurate and helpful information regarding the use of the Internet? How do you plan to address the topic of Cyber-bullying for students of all ages?

Action Plan: What is the timeline for action for the next three years regarding Internet Safety?

Goals Needs Assessment

Strategies

1. All students will be taught

internet safety and followschool rules regarding

thoseissues.

2. Regulate student use ofmedia communication

(face-book, twitter, email,

texting,etc.)

Students need continuous in-

struction on internet safety.

No policy of record exists for

St. James concerning social

media communication

The school will use netscape.com, I-Safe and child connection programs for all students.

Needs Assessment: In this section include the results of your needs assessment. Does equity in the use of technology exist in your school from grade level to grade level? Have you planned a continuum of skill development across grade levels? Is technology used during instruction to integrate multiple learning styles? Are technology tools used to accommodate students with learning differences? Are all students invited to participate in a Student Technology Leadership Program?

Action Plan: What is the timeline for action to realize the goals you have set? Be specific. What are your first steps? What local and Archdiocesan support will you need to accomplish your goals?

Goals Needs Assessment

Strategies

1. Technology will be integrated into daily instruction in all areas of the curriculum.

2. Students will use technolo-by by developing data bases, spread sheets, word docu-ments, timelines, research-based projects, etc.

3. In order to meet the goalsof differentiated instruction, teachers will investigateinstructional strategies usingavailable technology.

Technology is integrated on a

limited basis. Strategies are

absent from lesson plans.

Most student technologyassignments involve only

worddocuments.

While St. James addressesmany students’ needs,

tech-nology has not been used

toits fullest in addressing

thoseneeds.

Classrooms and stu-dents require adaptiveequipment; learning

activitiesneed to be interactive

Use planning time to investi-Gate methods of using tech-nology in all areas of thecurriculum.

Include a variety of tech-nology tools in studentassignments; plan with tech coordinator for followup inthe computer lab.

Professional development will be offered to all teachers to increase awareness of technology to differentiate instruction.

Installation and use of sound systems in all classrooms; purchase of adaptive equipment; use interactive white boards to meet individual needs.
