The Kitchen Floor New Vinyl has been laid and the floor looks a real picture. A nice light col-our and it looks so clean. The laying time caused no disruption as it was done over the holiday time. Thanks to all those who were respon-sible for this major enhancement to how the kitchen looks.

Some results were pre Xmas

The Club Rooms seemed to be humming on Saturday evening, lots of Club members there after the Champ Fours play had fin-ished together with another well attended Roll Up. The earlier finish to the Fours after only 1 round did seem to make a great difference to the Club spirit. The Editor could not help to com-pare this to the Sunday evening when many of the games did not finish until well after 6.00 p.m.—no spirit within the Club rooms at all.

On Saturday that Wrong Bias bell was ringing several times. Margaret Amey would have taken the prize for the best and loudest ring. Noeline Alexander didn’t know where to put her 50c so obviously it was her first for a long time.

The late Marge Walton’s daughter, Jan Prentice has sent this letter of thanks which is displayed in the Club rooms. Long serving Club members will remember Marge very well. Marge and her late husband Bob were very promi-nent members over many years. They were the donors of the Walton Trophy which is played on an annual basis between the men of Tawa and Khandallah Bowling Clubs.

“It’s been a busy time with Corporate Christmas functions this last cou-ple of weeks. Following the Tawa School night we had a group of 60 people from Compass Health return to our club on Friday for the 3rd year in a row. This time our cooks on the barbeque were asked to cope with an enormous amount of marinated chicken and a whole salmon which they did to perfection. The salmon was melt in the mouth and the chicken certainly looked finger looking good. Not so many of the group participated in the bowls this time but those who did had lots of fun. The singing of Christmas carols in the hall was also pretty good to listen to.

Then on Monday we had a smaller group of 20 people from Customs. Because of the tim-ing they had their lunch first and then went out for some fun on the green. They had come well prepared with teams all named and ready for bowls. This was the first group we have had where every person joined in the bowling fun. They were a very com-petitive group who had a great time and it was hard to get them back inside in time to present the winning team with the plastic medals they had brought with them before they had to race to get the train back to Wellington.”

“On Wednesday 19th December a lovely group of 16 Ladies and 1 Gentleman (wasn’t he lucky!) from the Johnsonville and Tawa Li-braries came to our club for their Christmas Function. It was a glorious evening with brilliant sunshine and absolutely no wind which made the bowling side of the function perfect. Everyone joined in and had a great time bowling for well over an hour before heading in for a

Lynda Wightman says that the Club members who volunteer to help are truly amazing. Ngarie, Lorraine, and Joy in the kitchen, Peter and John Hollick on the BBQ and Les and Dave Parsons on the greens. These are our main helpers but we also use the Searancke’s and Norah Hollick if it is a really big group like the Tawa School and Com-pass Health. Of course the barmen are also there every time. Because this group works so well together now (we’ve done many over the last few years) these functions are actually quite easy to arrange and we do also have a lot of fun.

Thanks to Lynda for all these words and the photos
