On Sunday morning we lost a fine gentleman with the passing of Howard Topham. Howard joined our Club in
2005 following having spent well over 60 years playing tennis. Howard’s wife June had been playing Bowls long
before Howard decided to change his sport and sister Mavis Clare was also a
prominent Tawa Bowler at our Club. Howard came to Tawa with his family in
about 1927 and has lived in Tawa Terrace since 1935. A Builder by trade,
Howard built many Tawa houses including their own house at 31 Tawa Tce. Howard once said “I liked living on a hill ..... I am here for the rest of my
life” . And he did. Our condolences to June and all the
family in their loss.
