These can be Emailed to the Editor at <[email protected]> On Sunday morning we lost a fine gentleman with the passing of Howard Topham. Howard joined our Club in 2005 following having spent well over 60 years playing tennis. Howard’s wife June had been playing Bowls long before Howard decided to change his sport and sister Mavis Clare was also a prominent Tawa Bowler at our Club. Howard came to Tawa with his family in about 1927 and has lived in Tawa Terrace since 1935. A Builder by trade, Howard built many Tawa houses including their own house at 31 Tawa Tce. Howard once said “I liked living on a hill ..... I am here for the rest of my life”. And he did. Our condolences to June and all the family in their loss. Women’s Championship Pairs Weather conditions at the wrong times has meant the Section play has taken longer than planned but it was finally completed over the weekend. The Post Section qualifiers are. Rae Chaney & Ingrid Tyler Nanette Crowe & Dorothy Matheson Mavis Woodman & Isabell Hassall Doreen McEnaney & Lorraine Rowe Lynette Clarke & Sharon Hay Noeline Alexander & Anne Searancke Men’s Championship Triples The 4 Post Section qualifiers are. Bruce Christie, Graham Savell, Gavin McLeod Murray Pirie, Alan Macleod, Alby Smith Mac Fa’atafa, Louis van Zyl, Brian Warburton Dave Connell, Paul McEnaney, Rob MacInarlin Women’s Mid Week drawn Pairs This is going very smoothly with almost no weather interruptions. The 2 teams to contest the final, probably on 28th November are; Doreen McEnaney & Jenny Turner Robyn Gundesen Dorothy Matheson Club Christmas Function Sunday, 16th December 2012 It is in the Handbook and a reminder was given a few weeks ago.
