Some great bowls was played by both teams and for most of the game there little between the 2 teams. With only 2 ends left Lynette’s team managed to get ahead by 4 shots. A 2 on the last end would have been enough to give Shirley’s team the win and they came very close to doing just that. Some very good bowls early in the last end looked like 4-5 shots to Shirley’s team but Rae Chaney achieved a lonely 2nd shot and it stayed there. Shirley was very close to drawing off that 2nd shot but who know what might have happened if Lynette had to play her last bowl. A great win to Lynette’s team which contained 2 Juniors. Bowls Wellington 1-10 Year Development Pairs 242

The club was well represented with 5 men’s teams and 3 women’s teams. Saturday morning weather was a shocker but Sunday was a complete change, still and sunny at Victoria good conditions and good bowls being played all day. The Tawa players who qualified for Post Section play on Sunday were.

Tom Humphries & Alan Macleod Anne Searancke & Sandy Hickey Lorraine Rowe & Jean Brewer

They did really well to be able to progress to the Post Section stage. Tom & Alan were eliminated in Round 2, Sandy & Anne lost to a strong Wainuiomata team in the quarter finals and as they were up against many Wellington Development Squad members they achieved so well. The success story was that of Jean & Lorraine who played 3 matches wining through to the final held on Monday in front of a large Tawa contingent. It was a great match with Jean & Lorraine playing some outstanding bowls to be leading 10 – 4 after nine ends against 2 NZ development players who had only managed to win one end. Unfortunately on the tenth end a dropped 6 suddenly had the score 10-10 , this was a bit of a shock which followed by another dropped 6, had the girls chasing, but although they won the ends the scoreboard beat them. It was a great effort girls, we are

proud of you. Tournament organizer Keith Johnson of Tawa made the runner up presentation to Lorraine & Jean.

WE ARE APPRECIATIVE From all those players who participated from our Club in the Bowls Wellington Inc - Women’s & Men’s Development 2/4/2 Pairs a huge THANK YOU for the wonderful support shown by so many Club Members during the three days of the Competition.

The support shown by you certainly does not go un-noticed by other Clubs either as almost every team Tawa played against comments would be made regarding the encouragement our Club Coaches and Members give to their young (in bowling terms) players!
