This course is designed for students to be able to fix the frame in a correct position. As part of it, they are able to understand the materials and methods in selecting frames, plus fixing fasteners on frames using proper technique in constructing the frame on the wall. In following the right technique and procedures, students will also be able to erect lintel over frames. In addition, the module allows awareness among the students to select, use the workplace tools and equipment safely. Also ensure the student maintain the cleanliness of work area, equipment and avoid workplace hazards.CONTENT AND LEARNING STANDARDS

1. SELECT FRAMES AND

FIX FASTENERS ON FRAMES1.1 Identify frames1.2 Prepare undercoats for the frames1.3 Recognize the fastener for the frame

1.1.1. Confirm frames according to the working drawing.

1.2.1 Apply undercoats to the frames properly as to comply with the work requirement.

1.3.1 Confirm fastener as specified in the work requirement.1.3.2 Install fasteners on frames according to the work specification.

2 FIX FRAMES ON THE WALL.2.1 Identify the working site.

2. 2 Identify frames.2.3 Set up frame.2.4 Measure the height and level of frames.

2.5 Support the frame.

2.1.1 Prepare the location according to the working drawing.2.2.1 Select frames as required by Working drawing.2.2.2 Transport frames to the work site according to the job specification.2.3.1 Carry out frame to the required proposed structure according to the job procedure.2.4.1 Confirm the height and level of frames according to the working drawing.

2.5.1 Install brace to support the frame and

adjust their alignment properly as required by the work specification.

3. CONSTRUCT DOOR AND

WINDOW OPENING ON

BRICK WALL4.1 Recognise wall opening4.1.1 Define wall opening according to standard requirement

4.2 Specify the position of wall opening 4.2.1 Mark the position of door and window by proper

method according to drawing plan.

4.3 Set up wall with opening up to the lintel level

4.3.1 Set up wall with opening up to the lintel level by proper procedures using appropriate tools and equipment

4.4 Erect frame into position4.4.1 Install and fix frame into position according to the

Procedures.

4.4.2 Fix and install frame to wall with fasteners using proper procedures and tools according to standard procedures

4.5 Install lintel over opening

4.5.1 Select method of constructing lintel according to drawing plan.

4.5.2 Place different lintel in position according to

4. ERECT FORMWORK FOR LINTEL

3.1 Identify the work area surface.3.2 Prepare formwork parts.3.3 Set up formwork for lintel

3.4 Strip off, clean and stack lintel formwork.

3.5 Clean the work area from debris.

3.1.1 Make up work area surface according to the working drawing.3.2.1 Select formwork parts for lintel to comply with the work specification. 3.2.2 Fabricate formwork parts for lintel according to the work specification.3.2.3 Apply oil to the inner side of formwork surface as required by the work specification.3.3.1 Carry out formwork construction for lintel using proper procedures and techniques in accordance with work specification .3.3.2 Perform the work of alignment and straightness of lintel

with proper techniques.3.3.3 Ensure the water tightness between gaps.3.4.1 Dismantle formwork for lintel using proper procedures and

and stack techniques.3.4.2 Clean formwork for proper storage as required by the work site procedures.

3.5.1 Carry out cleaningof waste at thesiteaftercompletionof

work.

5. PLACE LINTEL OVER FRAMES4.1 Identify the working site.

4.2 Prepare pre-cast lintels.4.3 Prepare platform and scaffolding to place lintels on frame.4.4 Fix lintel over the frames4.1.1 Select correct location according to the working drawing.

4.2.1 Select reinforcement concrete bars according to the working drawing.4.2.2 Pour concrete mortar into the formwork according to the work specification.4.2.3 Carry out pre-cast lintels according

to work requirement. 4.2.4 Transport pre-cast lintel to work site according to the standard of procedure.

4.3.1 Erect platform and scaffolding according

to the job requirement4.4.1 Carry out lintel placement over frames according to the specification.
