At the end of the module, students should be able to:-

1. Select Materials for finishing Works.2. .Prepare mortar by Proportion3. Perform Plain vertical surface for Finishing Work

4. perform plastering work on plain vertical surfaces with finishers .

5. prepare curve vertical surfaces for plastering 6. perform plastering work on curve vertical surfaces with finishers

7. Perform rough-cast finish on plastered Work

COURSE DESCRIPTIONThis course provides an overview about plastering works in building construction. It is designated as an introduction for students who wish to achieve competency and skills relating to plastering works. Students will be exposed to the safety practices while handling tools and materials Students will also gain knowledge about materials used in plastering works.It also involves content about mortar preparation and its proportion. Students will also interpret blueprint related to plastering works. Finally areas of study comprise of safety precautions, tools and materials heeded, mortar preparation, types of plastering works and plastering techniques / methods. CONTENT AND LEARNING STANDARDS

1. select materials for finishing works.1.1 Identify the location.1.1.1Select location for different finishing works according to the blue print and work specifications.

1.2 Prepare materials to be used. 1.2.1 Carry out materials to be used for different finishing work as required by the blue print and works specifications.

1.1 1.2.2 Store hand tools in safe condition and maintain good house keeping according to the work specification.

1.3 1.2.3 Wear complete safety attire according to safety rules and regulations.

2. prepare mortar by propotion

2.1 Determine the materials.

2.1.1 Select qualified materials needed according to the required proportion.

2.2 Identify the hand tools.

2.2.1 Use hand tools needed according to the work specification.

2.3 Compose mortar.

2.3.1 Perform mixing mortar using appropriate tools, equipment and materials according to the work specification.

3.1 Prepare the location.

3.1.1 Identify location according to the work placement specification.

3.2 Determine the surfaces.3.2.1 Identify the suitable surface according to the work placement specification.

3.3 Prepare scaffolding.

3.3.1 Select suitable scaffolding according specification

3.3.2 Erect scaffolding according to job requirement

3.4 Set up the surfaces. 3.4.1 Select the suitable surface according to work specification.3.4.2 Construct the plain vertical surface using appropriate tools, equipment and materials according to job specification.

4.1 Prepare materials for mortar.

4.1.1 Select the material use according work specification.

4.2 Identify tools.

4.2.1 Select the proper hand tools for plastering work according to the work specification.

4.3 Set up plastering works.4.3.1 Carry out the plastering works on plain vertical surfaces with finishers using proper materials and methods / techniques according the job specification.

5. 1 Identify the location.

5.1.1 Select the suitable location according to the work placement specification.

5.2 Identify the surfaces.

5.2.1 Define the surfaces according to the working drawing.

5.3 Select scaffolding.5.4 Set up the curve vertical surface.5.3.1 Prepare the suitable scaffolding according to the specification.

5.4.1 Carry out the curve vertical surface to be plastered by using tools, equipment and materials according to required specification.

6.3.1 Carry out plastering on curve vertical surfaces with finishers by applying methods / technique using appropriate tools, equipment and material according to the work specification.

7.1 Identify materials.

7.3.1 Define the surfaces according to the work placement specification.

7.4 Set up plastering work on plain

vertical surfaces.

7.4.1 Carry out rough-cast finish on plastered work by applying method / technique using appropriate tools, equipment and materials

according to work spcification.
