Earthjustice’s Fossil Fuels programis confronting this massive build-out. We use litigation,administrative advocacy, and partnership to advance an endto U.S. oil and gas extraction and production, and stop newinfrastructure (e.g. petrochemical facilities, export terminalsand pipelines). The Staff Attorney will focus on challengingnew and expanding fossil fuel infrastructure development inTexas and the Gulf South Region.

The position will focus on Texas, but will include other partsof the U.S. Gulf Region, and will be based out of a satelliteoffice space shared with other Fossil Fuel Program staff inNew Orleans or remote in Texas.

Responsibilities:

Qualifications:

Lawyer who is admitted or willing to apply foradmission to the Texas bar;At least five years of litigation experience;Excellent litigation skills, including proven legalresearch, writing, analytical, and oral advocacyskills, and ability to manage a litigation docketeffectively;Strong skills in communicating litigation andadvocacy goals and messages to the media;Ability to work independently and in collaborationwith client partners and in leading a team;Strong and demonstrated initiative, good judgment,creativity, and work ethic;Ability and willingness to travel as needed for casework, court appearances, and presentations;Commitment to serving the public interest, and apassion for the role of Earthjustice and its mission;Demonstrated awareness and sensitivity to theneeds and concerns of individuals from diversecultures, backgrounds, and orientations;Commitment to help create a diverse, equitable, andinclusive work culture that encourages andcelebrates differences.

The Legal Fellow will participate in both litigation and non-litigation advocacy activities to advance civil liberties andcivil rights in Kentucky. A stipend up to $1000, subject to regular attendanceand completion of the internship, will be provided. Inaddition, the internship may lead to futureemployment.
