• Till now hundreds of millions of Muslims all over Asia, Africa, Europe, India, Bangladesh, Fiji, Indonesia, Yemen, Turkey, Pakistan, Middle east and the Americas.

• Only those who have darkness in their hearts and do not love the Prophet deny permissibility of celebrating Mawlid and say that such celebrations are unlawful or haram.

• Al-Mawlid is a good and rewarding innovation derived from the Qur’an and teachings of the Prophet.

Mawlid is a good and rewarding innovationMawlid is a good and rewarding innovationSallallahu ^Alayhi Wa SallamSallallahu ^Alayhi Wa Sallam

• Prophet Muhammad said what means: “The one who innovates a good innovation in Islam has its reward and a reward similar to those who follow him in without lessening their reward. The one who innovates an innovation of misguidance would be sinful for it and has sins similar to those who follow him in it--until the Day of Judgment”

• From such hadith, the scholars of Islam like an-Nawaiy and al-hafidh Ibn Hajar and others said that innovation (Bid^ah) is of two types one that does not comply with Qur’an and Sunnah and that is rejected, and one that complies with Qur’an and Sunnah which is accepted in Islam such as al-Mawlid celebration.

Mawlid is a good and rewarding innovationMawlid is a good and rewarding innovationSallallahu ^Alayhi Wa SallamSallallahu ^Alayhi Wa Sallam

• Among the good innovations was the doing of the followers of Prophet Issa (Jesus) peace be upon him as they initiated a good deed as Allah said in al-Qur’an { ا ة اْب,َت)د)ع*وَه) َّي اِن ْهَب َوَر } {wa rahbaniyatan-ibtada^ooha} which means they innovated an act of detaching the hearts from worldly interests and spending the time for worship. This proves that bid^ah is of two types good and bad.

• The companion Khubayb innovated a good innovation (bid^ah) by making a practice of praying tow rak^ahs before being killed. al-Bukhariy

• Making Salat and salam on the Prophet after the Adhan is another good innovation practiced by Muslims over 700 years ago.

Also Yahya bin Ya^mur innovated a good innovation by placing dots and characters above and below the Arabic letters in the Qur’an. A dot below the Ba’ letter, Dot above Noon letter and so on. That was not done by the prophet nor companions. That innovation was a very beneficial and useful bid^ah accepted in Islam.

• Khalifah Uthman innovated the practice of a second Adhan on Fridays. As narrated by Bukhariy.

• And Celebrating the Birth of the Prophet is one of those good innovations of guidance that comply with the Qur’an Sunnah. It’s a way of presenting our thankfulness to Allah, for sending prophet Muhammad as a mercy to humanity.
