I hope you all had a great summer and took some time out to recharge your batteries and enjoy some time away from Scouting. I’d like to start this issue by saying a big thank you to Mark Pullen who for a number of years has edited this publication but has this summer decided to step down from the role to pursue other things, thank you Mark for all your time over the years. September is always a busy month with the AGM, Gilwell Reunion and this year our County Awards Ceremony at Bradford Cathedral, where many of our talented young people were presented with their Scouting awards by Tim Kidd, Chief Com- missioner of England. We would like to invite any leader or adult helper to join our next Canoeing & Kayaking course which is scheduled to start on Sunday October 7th. The course will run between October and April 2013 and the cost per person will be £260.00. The course will be based at a variety of locations, but the main ones being Pugneys Country Park, Sowerby Bridge Canal and Batley Sports & Tennis Centre swimming pool. We will be out on open water approximately twice a month on Saturdays or Sundays for about 4 hours each session. In November we will be making use of indoor training sessions every Sunday evening from 7pm to 8pm at Batley Sports and Tennis Centre. In addition to these sessions we will be including a residential weekend in January 2013 based in the Yorkshire Dales. If you wish to join this years course, then reg- ister your interest at [email protected] and we will send out your joining pack with full details. Payment can be made by your scout group if they wish to support your applica- tion, and this will be collected on your first attendance. Welcome to the new season and new look wysmail ! I hope you all had a great

summer and took some time out to recharge your batteries and enjoy some

Canoeing Course West Yorkshire Scouts Water Team announce this years leaders canoeing course. We

would like to invite any leader or adult helper to join our next Canoeing & Kayaking course which is scheduled to

start on Sunday October 7th. The course will run between October and April 2013 and the cost per person will be £260.00.

The course will be based at a variety of locations, but the main ones being Pugneys Country Park, Sowerby Bridge Canal

Keighley Gangshow

The Keighley Scout Gangshow is on Fri/Sat 23rd &

24th November at Victoria Hall in Keighley. Our

unique take on the traditional Gangshow features

our cast of 70+ Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Explorers and

Network in our brand new show “We are Legend”.

Follow St George on his search for the dragon, see

Greek Gods at war, relive some classic comedy and

more all in the Scouting spirit. Tickets are £5 for

concessions and anyone in Scout/Guide uniform with a 20% dis-

WYSMAIL —The changes… As a result of the new look wysmail, we’re making a few changes to make the newsletter easier to use.

Wysmail will become a monthly publication going out in the last week of the month.

Submission deadline for any items is the 10th of the month.

Submission for the newsletter should be around 100 words (see examples on this page).

Supporting attachments will be saved to the dedicated space on the

website for ease of reference if you want to say a little more.

Articles should be submitted by email to [email protected]

Between editions there will be WYSMAIL Plus, our new news flash

service for distributing information quickly round the County.

Request for help.. Calling all past and present Cliffites - Huddersfield

North's 31st Birchencliffe Scout Group will be 50 years

young in April 2013. If you have any old photos or news-

paper clippings or any other Birchencliife related stuff

that we can borrow and put on display for a Golden

Anniversary reunion and open day (date still to be decided but will be

around April/May 2013) or if you would simply be interested in coming

along at some time during the day for a chat about old times then
