Link to course materials in canvas Course Description This course is intended to be an introductory course in types of quantitative analysis which will support future electives in Business Analytics as well as other MBA program concentrations. The course will start with an overview of statistics and probability. We will then cover the topics of sampling and hypothesis testing in order to learn how to compare data to benchmarks or other data. The third topic for the course is linear regression where we will explore correlation and causality within a data set and learn about the concept of statistical significance. Finally, the course concludes with a discussion of optimization techniques including linear programming. The quiz following our third session (Aug 31) is intended to help students gauge how well they are keeping up in the course. The quiz will be graded, but constitutes only 0.5% of the overall CORE grade. This is an opportunity for students to identify areas of concern and address them with the instructor or GA in order to improve the chances for success in the course. There are four individual homework assignments.

Course DescriptionThis course is intended to be an introductory course in types of quantitative analysis which will

support future electives in Business Analytics as well as other MBA program concentrations.

Student PreparationThe main preparation for the course is to view the video summaries of the topics prior to each

class. This material is intended to provide the theoretical basis for the material we will apply during the lecture period. Student preparation/participation will be graded based on lecture questions covering the material in the online videos. The videos are paired with excel spreadsheets to allow the student to work in parallel with the video. Students with familiarity of a topic may only need to watch the video once. Students who are new to the topic may need to pause, rewind, and re-watch several times. It is the responsibility of the student to be familiar with the topic prior to class. You will be given a quiz following every video. This quiz will help me to steer the class in the necessary direction as well as provide an indication to me as to the engagement of the student in preparing for class. It is not assumed that students will get everything right on the quiz. That’s why we have class.
