XBOX BASIC SETUP

SYSTEM REQUIREMENT

1. NTL cable modem with an added XBOX-PS2 package

2. XBOX console

3. A patch [straight-through] cable .

To make a modem connection to Xbox Live:1. Turn off your Xbox 360 console and your cable modem before connecting any

cables. Unplug your modem from power to turn it off. 2. Connect one end of the Ethernet cable to the Ethernet port on your modem

and the other end to the Ethernet port on the back of your Xbox 360 console3. Turn on your modem, then your Xbox 360 console, with no disc in the disc

tray. 4. If you've already used your Xbox 360 system for offline play, the Xbox

Dashboard will open to the Xbox Live area. Select the Xbox Live banner. When you see the Xbox Live Marketplace you'll know you're connected to Xbox Live.

automatic network troubleshooter in the System area (under Network Settings) to help you connect.

1. Go to the System area of the Xbox Dashboard.

2. Select Network Settings.

3. Select Test Xbox Live Connection

After the system has completed its tests, select More Info to learn more about your network, paying close attention to any test that failed.In each case, the More Info section will offer tips for correcting the conditions preventing you from accessing Xbox Live.

IP address - automatic DNS - Automatic PPPOE - Disabled Advanced - Empty

To access the above settings you need to ask the customer to goto the System area of the Xbox dashboard dashboard and click on Edit Settings

MTU test failedFirst of all make sure that the customer is able to access the internet through the standalone computer . Now ask the customer to get the Ethernet MAC address of the Network adapter. To do so take the customer to the command prompt and ask the customer to type ipconfig/all . Note down the physical address .

Now , the next job would be to clone this MAC address on the XBOX interface. We call this procedure as “MAC CLONING” ( don panic , it’s very simple)

XBOX and Broadband Package

IMPORTANTWe shall go through the above diagnostic step [ MAC CLONING] only with old customers who have an additional XBOX-PS2 package . The same has been confirmed by FMET . If a customer is receiving MTU error even after going through the basic setup , customer needs to call Microsoft or a 3rd party helpdesk to get help. We shall not help him with a service that he is not paying for.

Step1 : Goto the system area of the dashboard and click on Network SettingsStep2 : Click on Edit SettingsStep3 : Under Additional Settings click on Advanced SettingsStep4 : Click on Alternate MAC address and type the Ethernet MAC addressStep5 : Ask the customer to save the settings and restart the Cable Modem and the XBOX.
