VBS is as much fun for the leaders as it is for our youth. Vacation Bible School at Saint Raphael
the Archangel Parish Community is as
much about the volunteers and the group
leaders as it is about
the participants…and
it always has been!
Usually on or about
the third week of July,
ALWAYS the hottest
and most humid week
for Manchester, for
the last 20 years, we
have had Vacation
Bible School at Saint
Raphael. We have
found our numbers of
participants have
dwindled somewhat
because working par-
ents are looking for
full day pro-
grams….we only go
from 9 to noon. But
the number of our volunteers are never down.
Because of the longevity and reliability of
our key volunteers and group leaders, VBS
has been a grand success. Take our very own
Caresse Mailloux, cantor , senior altar
server, retreat team member, parishioner
since birth! She has participated in every
year of VBS, first as a participant, then crew
leader, and station leader ...well, except for
the year we all missed because of necessary
repairs to the parish hall. That was a sad year
for VBS but we were back in full swing the
following year.
Then, there are the Aherrera sisters, also
altar servers, retreat team members, long time
parishioners who recently moved
to Nashua with their family. Yet,
they started as participants many
years ago and still serve as sta-
tion leaders each summer.
The following excerpt is from
Mikaela Aherrera, daughter of
Dan and Deb Aherrera. Mika-
ela is beginning her sophomore
year at Rivier University, major-
ing in Special Education with a
focus in English.
“Maker Fun Factory Vacation
Bible School was a very suc-
cessful week filled with smiles,
laughter, and a lot of singing and
dancing! Every day started out
with the kids in Sing and Play,
led by Susan Papinsick,
where they would sing
and dance to some great
music about
God! They
would also
learn about
their daily
bible buddy,
which was
an animal
that taught
them les-
sons. After
Sing and
Play, the
campers
would go to
their first
workshop whether it be Bible
Adventures with Mikaela,
Molly, and Isaac, Kidvid Cine-
ma with Beka, Imagination
Station with Rachel and Cammie, and
Games with Er in!
In Bible Adventure,
the room would be
set up as a different
scene in the Bible as
if they were taken
back in time to expe-
rience the stories of
the Bible! Personally,
working in this room, my
favorite lesson was about
the Resurrection and sin! In
Kidvid Cinema the camp-
ers watch videos about real
kids telling their stories
about feeling God's pres-
ence in their life. In Imagi-
nation Station the kids
would do experiments that
went along with the theme
of each day! In fact, even
the snack goes along with
the theme and each group
gets to make and serve the
snack one day during the
week. (Kim Mailloux has
been the key player in this
endeavor since the first
year….planning carefully and frugally to
provide meaningful, but nutritional snacks
each day!! ) Then last,
but certainly not least
Games where the kids
went outside and en-
joyed some running
and playing which also
followed the theme of
the day, as well as on
the last day when they
traced themselves on
poster paper and then
their fellow campers
left very nice notes
about them on their
posters! By the end of the week everyone was
exhausted but it was worth it! Every camper
that walks through those gymnasium doors
are welcomed with open arms!
At the end of the week we
leave as family and start antici-
pating VBS next summer! (By
the way…next year’s theme is
“Shipwrecked….rescued by
Jesus!” Can’t wait!!!

Holy Communion Distribu-tion Notice—We all know that the flu and cold season raises all sorts of questions with regard to the transmission of germs when the faithful receive the Precious Blood
from the chalice. Until Holy Thursday of next year, Holy Communion will be distributed only under the form of the Consecrated Host, per the direction of the Bishop of the diocese of Manchester, NH. For individuals with gluten or other allergy limitations, we do offer gluten-free hosts. Please inform the sacristan at the Mass you attend if you require a gluten-free host. Prior to Holy Thursday, a renewed catechesis on the practice of Holy Communion Under Both Kinds will be made available under the direction of the Office of Worship and Fr. Jason Jalbert.

Wanted: Sacris-tans, lectors & altar serv-ers Have you ever considered serv-ing God and your fellow pa-rishioners as a sacristan, lector or usher? Service in these im-portant roles is by appoint-ment, but you can help Saint Raphael expand our roster by volunteering. We especially have a need at our 7:30 am and 9:30 am Masses for lec-tors, and at the 4 pm and 5 pm Masses for altar servers. If interested or if you have ques-tions, please contact Kerri at 603.623.2604. Thank you!
Thank you, Connie! Constance A. Richard, a
beloved parishioner who died last October, remembered Saint Raphael with a bequest of $5,000 received this past week. We are deeply grateful and continue to remember Connie in our Masses and prayers. P. Jerome, O.S.B., pas-tor, has directed that the bequest be added to the Saint
Raphael Development Fund for upcoming projects and needs in the parish. May Connie’s generosity be an inspiration to all us!
Please pray for the repose of
the souls of Therese St.
