The fi rst platform was developed in 2003 when the South African mining sector expressed a need for a small machine which could assist with the cleaning of slopes after blasting. It is controlled by a single operator using a simple and convenient hand-held remote control unit. The experience has shown that most people can be trained within a period of several days to operate the machine.

The MVD Extra Low Profi le (XLP) Dozer is designed as a very low profi le, remote-controlled machine for multiple uses such as underground mining, construction, military and defence missions. Low profi le and remote control makes it suitable for multi-purpose tasks and missions.

Although the development of the MVD had been done under the specifi c requirements, the following was taken into consideration:

• Ability to work in high temperatures up to 50°C

Tool Attachments

The MVD XLP Dozer has a blade as a standard operating tool. The blade is used for digging and pushing theblasted ore in front of the machine. During operation, the MVD is capable of handling 50 to 120 tons of ore per hour. The machine is designed to work continuously with minimal maintenance and downtime. Maintenance and repairs can be carried out in the fi eld or in certifi ed service centers, and the tools required are standard wrenches and some specially modifi ed tools.

The additional operating tool attachment is a bucket that can be used as a blade or as a carrier of ore, but also serves as a front end loader. It can easily be mounted on the prime mover or exchanged in a short time with the original blade. The capacity of the bucket is 0,65 to 1,0 cubic meter of ore. During the operations, the machine with the bucket is capable of handling even more tons of ore per hour than with the blade.

The MVD XLP Dozer system weights around 4 tons, and tests and evaluations done in real mines showed that the machine is capable of handling 50 to 120 tons of ore per hour, thus increasing the productivity by several times. It also greatly increases the safety of mineworkers.

The MVD XLP Dozer has proved to be essential part of the mine equipment since it can be intensively used in the most severe working conditions and it has the ability to work in extremely high temperatures. High performance, modular design, lowest possible maintenance requirements and environmental protection are features that make the MVD XLP Dozer a high quality product for mining sector.

The major components not produced by DOK-ING such as the motor and hydraulics are provided by large, international companies thus ensuring long-term availability of spare parts. DOK-ING also maintains adequate stocks of spare parts on its premises.

The in-house service capabilities allow DOK-ING to send maintenance team or spare parts at short notice to any location in the world.

Training of the operators is a part of the post-sale support. The MVD XLP Dozer is easily operated by a remote control, and the experience has shown that most people can learn to operate the machine within a period of several days.
