HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT

The HRM course is the oldest and the most prestigious of the Institute’s teaching programmes. Ranked as the best programme in India and the Asia-Pactific region, it aims to equip the students with the knowledge and skills required for managing HR in a way that contributes to the development of individuals and organizations.

The major thrust areas are Human Resource Planning, Human Resource Information Systems, Selection, Performance Management, Training and Development, Compensation Administration and fostering harmonious employer - employee relationships in the framework of state regulations. This programme has produced some of the top HR professionals in the industry today.

Sapphire Committee has enabled healthy interaction between industry and academia through several initiatives like forum discussions, guest lectures, competitions,live project and case studies.

FIRE@X Committee is the hub of all IR-related activities at XLRI. It serves as a platform for sharing ideas and discussing key aspects of Employee Relations/ Industrial Relations.

BUSINESS MANAGEMENT

This programme is extremely prestigious and is rated as one of the finest of its kind in the country. The alumni of this programme currently occupy very significant positions in various industries, both in India and abroad.The curriculum lays the foundation for a conceptual and analytical understanding of Indian and international business. XLRI’s BM programme is designed to closely integrate current management theory and practice. The course imparts knowledge and fosters attitudes essential for the growth of students into competent, responsible managers. The course has an evolving programme content and is constantly updated to be in tune with the emerging trends.

FinanceFinance is one of the prized specializations here at XLRI. The course is specially designed to help students analyse and examine the nuances of finance and fund management and at the same time appreciate its role as the life blood of business organization.The Finance Association at XLRI, popularly known as FINAX, is one of the most prominent student bodies of the campus. FINAX works with a two-fold agenda of enriching the finance quotient amongst the students and bringing the financial corporate world closer to the students.

MarketingMarketing has long been the forte of XLRI.The curriculum and pedagogy have been structured to flexibility and adaptability to meet the demands of the corporate world. The focus is laid on practical, case based learning and active participation is encouraged. Over the course, students pick up nuances of marketing thanks to some innovative activities and events conducted by the Marketing Association at XLRI and in course of their internships with the best in the industry. XLRI has prided itself in its brainchild of MAXI Fair as an innovative way for companies to solve marketing research problems, some of whom have used the fair to launch products.

Operations and Supply ChainXLRI, with its distinct curriculum and pedagogy in the field of Operations, has made its study a totally insightful and practical one for students who embark upon it. AXIOM’s set of activities include events from simulation games, online quizzes to plant visits, industry interaction through live projects, case studies, guest lectures.of the business are a major area of focus of the eminent professors who handle the courses of this field.

ConsultingConsulting over the years has carved a niche segment for itself in the market.In today’s extremely competitive environment, the need to differentiate oneself from one’s competitors is of paramount importance. It is therefore the need of the hour to have managers equipped with skills and mindsets that will foster quick understanding of the businesses and their environment, thereby enabling quick decisions.

CRUX envisions promoting XLRI as a premier consulting destination, seeking to hone consulting skills at XLRI and within the management student community at large.

IT IT has been another domain where XLRI has been a name to reckon with, given the unique faculty, curriculum & pedagogy. Ashish Pareek, a passionate swimmer, was awarded the highest performance rating of “Exceptional Contribution” in 2012 at Tata Motors for Customer Satisfaction improvement in Jaipur. A sports enthusiast who loves playing football and making predictions about football matches, Avinash, was one of the first to troubleshoot a global issue during the launch of Windows 8 and emerged as a top performer at Convergys. He is altruistically inclined and often seen supporting social causes.

Bhavya Choudhary has an excellent and consistent academic record. As GET, she co-authored a book “Learning from Incident-PBR 1”. Being Student Co-ordinator for her batch, she has organized various departmental activities. Creative by instinct, she won 2nd prize at Design competition-IITB , 1st prize at an aeromodelling-workshop and learnt French.

Durga Prasanna Ray was awarded “Chief Minister’s Merit Award” for securing 6th rank in the state in 10th std.He has interned at NALCO,Angul and has also worked as a supervisor in an NGO “Sishu Greh”.He was the executive committee member of “Utkal Samaj”,the cultural association of Orissa in Bits Pilani.

Driven by Henry Ford’s quote, “To do more for the world than the world does for you, that is success”, Atin is part of PlaceCom at XLRI and was DramSoc core member at BITS. He is an avid reader and a passionate ManUtd fan.`

Along with top academic ranks Bhanu hase also been a research intern at various projects under Department of Biotechnology, Government of India. Maulik is a Kulapati Gold Medalist from Bhavans A.H. Wadia High School where he has won C.Subramaniam Award for Excellence in Character and was state topper in Mathematics in X. He was a part of Placement Cell at DJSCE where he published a Research Paper in IJCA Journal.

A consistent top performer in academics, Gyanesh Mishra has received MNNIT ECE department scholarship twice and was nominated for Aditya Birla Scholarship from XLRI. He underwent training in UPPCL twice, was recruited in NTPC Ltd and has served as a competent manager in a labor supply firm and a construction company.

Kiran Raj, one of the toppers in his school, was an event coordinator instrumental in organizing the technical fest Drishti 2013. He has done a project on Wireless Power transfer. He has won Calligraphy and Science Quiz competitions at school level and is passionate about football and South Indian films.

Manitam has an experience in conceptualizing and organizing a National Inter-College level Economics summit. While equipped with Advanced MS Excel knowledge, Manitam is a music enthusiast. An avid follower of Real Madrid, he also believes in paying back to society. He has worked with National Service Scheme for underprivileged children.

Muthukumar is an electronics engineer with many electronics certifications from Robo Tech Labs, EFY Tech Centre and Microchip. He has many distinctive performances in national science and cyber Olympiads. He is also a state level chess player with a penchant for strategy games. His hobbies include teaching robotics, playing football, gaming and trekking.

Apart from being a journalist and published Op-Ed writer, Priyadarshini has been a Programmer Analyst with Cognizant Technology Solutions. A blogger and graphic novel fanatic, she is a post graduate in English Literature and a first division holder. Her passion for public speaking led her to victory in a number of debate competitions.

Rajat is a STAR Infoscion, rated as CRR 1+, holds H1-B US Visa and awarded for excellent work in Infosys. He was a KM anchor, news editor and SME in project.He received second prize in Paper Presentation in College,secured meritorious position in Chemistry/Math’s Olympiad. His hobbies are blogging and writing poems

Mohit, a quick learner, has been awarded several Proficiency and Merit certificates for high scores in the academics. He is a team player and conferred with various Certificates of Appreciation for his dedicated effort to the projects. He has also received a Performance Rating of 1 which is second highest in the company. He is passionate about movies and music.

Priya worked as an associate consultant in Technopak Advisors on textile specific consulting projects in both public and private domain. She has cleared CFA Level I exam conducted by CFA Institute, USA in 2013. She is a passionate sportsperson, actively participated and won in Badminton and athletic events.

Priyotosh Das is an extremely perseverant person and was awarded the National Bronze Medal in final year of professional Tabla course (15 years of rigorous training). He is also very dedicated and loves being challenged, and was appointed one of the youngest mentors while working with Labour Operations division in Mu Sigma.

As a management trainee in ZCS consultancy, Ravindra Vadali completed staffing assignments for major companies like L&T, MAYTAS, Godrej, Satyam, Nagarjuna group etc. He created a module for training and testing for Bhilai steel plant for which he received letter of recommendation from DGM HR. He is a fitness enthusiast and runs marathons frequently.

A junior executive member of Sapphire, Sahil is school topper and state rank 8, ICSE and stood among top 15 in B.Tech. He was President of ChESA and sucessfully organized NU-Tech’14 and Kailash Kher concert. Sahil has secured state rank 3 in chess and was part of district football team.

Samridhi is a school topper and CBSE district ranker. She was a Placement Coordinator and Executive Committee Member, IEEE. She organized multiple technical and cultural fests and was the core HR team member of Impulse’13. As member of multiple NGOs, she conducted eco-audits for organizations and volunteered for social activities.

Ratna implemented SAP ERP for 3 major European Steel Manufacturers. She led team of 4 for implementation of procurement related SAP processes for steel manufacturing major which resulted in annual cost savings of $75000 for the client. Her environmental initiatives have resulted in monthly savings of Inr 75000 at Accenture.

Ritika Chadha was the Presentations Head of the Training and Placement Committee. She led teams to organize Aavishkar (techfest) and was the Publicity Head of Goonj (Cultural fest) and organized the National Conclave. She is proficient with French. She was elected as department representative of the University and worked with NGO’s.

Saket has worked on design development of power projects located in USA and India for Bechtel India, where he has been rewarded for consistent excellent performance. A pass out from NPTI Delhi, he was the deputy cultural secretary of his college. Saket is an avid reader and a cricket enthusiast.
