The organizers of RD2014 wish to congratulate the recipients of RD2014 Young Investigator Travel Awards listed below and funded by the National Eye Institute, NIH, USA; the Foundation Fighting Blindness, USA; Pro Retina, Germany; and the Fritz Tobler Foundation, Switzerland. Eligibility was restricted to graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, instructors and assistant professors actively involved in retinal degeneration research. These awards were based on the quality of the abstract submitted by each applicant. The Travel Awards Committee consisted of nine senior retinal degeneration investigators and was chaired by Catherine Bowes Rickman.

In the 30‐year history of the RD Symposia, the full‐day Excursion has been a most important feature of the meeting. During these times, the top 100‐200 vision scientists from around the world have the opportunity to interact in an informal way with others whom they seldom, if ever, get a chance to meet. As a consequence of these personal interactions in a relaxed and exciting atmosphere, many collaborations, professional connections, personal friendships, and innovations have arisen during the Excursions. It is also a time when young trainees in vision research can network, meet senior investigators in the field, and explore potential postdoctoral and faculty positions. These invaluable interactions are not possible at larger scientific meetings.

RD2014 Poster Presentations
Poster Dimensions: The maximum dimensions of each poster are 45” x 45”, as two posters
will be displayed on each side of a 91”‐wide board (x 45” high). Poster Setup: All posters should be set up in the Kiln and Fred Farr Forum buildings
after registration on Sunday, July 13th. Pins will be provided. Poster boards are also covered with Velcro‐receptive fabric.
Poster Removal: Posters will be displayed all week and should be removed at the end of
the poster session on Wednesday, July 16th. Poster Schedule: Posters will be presented on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday
evenings between 7:30 and 10:00 pm. On Monday and Wednesday evenings, presenting authors of an ODD numbered poster should be available in front of the poster between 7:30 and 8:45 pm. Authors of an EVEN numbered poster should be at their poster between 8:45 and 10:00 pm. On Tuesday evening, everyone is free to roam all posters.
