1. Lord Jesus, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner.

2. Forgive me my sins, O Lord, forgive me my sins. The sins of my youth, the sins of my age,the sins of my soul, the sins of my body,my idle sins, my voluntary sins, the sins I know, the sins I do not know, the sins I have concealed, the sins hidden from my memory.I am truly sorry for every sin, mortal and venial, for all the sins of my childhoodup to the present hour.I know my sinshave wounded Your Most Sacred Heart.O my Savior, let me be freed from the bonds of evil, through the graceof Your most sacred passion and death.O my Jesus, forgive what I have I have beenand what I have done.Give me the grace to flee from sinfrom this moment on,and ever to seek Your mercy.Amen.

• Drive into the portico. The priest will welcome you and make the sign of the Cross.

• Say: “Forgive me, Father, for I have sinned. My last confession was (how long ago) and these are my sins.” You should also mention your age and your state in life: (student, married, single, widowed, etc.)

• You then confess all your serious or mortal sins to the priest. You should also briefly mention your venial sins.

• If you are unsure what to say, briefly ask for guidance. Do not lower or remove your mask. Then make a confession of your sins. Counsel is available by phone outside of confession.

• The priest will then give you an appropriate penance.

• The Act of Contrition would normally be prayed at this moment, but we ask you at this time to pray an Act of Contrition before you approach the area for confessions. This will reduce contact time and possible spread of germs.

• The priest will offer the prayer for sacramental absolution. Make the sign of the cross with him at the end of this prayer.

• You then leave, and now or within a few days complete the penance the priest assigned you.

3. Oh my God,I am heartily sorry for having offended You,and I detest all my sinsbecause of Your just punishments, but most of all because they offend You, my God, who are all good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve, with the help of Your grace,to sin no moreand to avoid the near occasions of sin.

4. My God, I am sorry for my sinswith all my heart. In choosing to do wrong and failing to good,I have sinned against You,whom I should love above all things.I firmly intend, with the help of Your grace,to sin no moreand to avoid whatever leads me to sin.Our Savior, Jesus Christ, suffered and died for us.In His name, my God, have mercy.

A READING FROM THE BOOK OF THE PROPHET JEREMIAH Jeremiah 20:7-9

You duped me, O LORD, and I let myself be duped;you were too strong for me, and you triumphed. All the day I am an object of laughter;everyone mocks me.

Whenever I speak, I must cry out,violence and outrage is my message;

the word of the LORD has brought mederision and reproach all the day.I say to myself, I will not mention him,I will speak in his name no more. But then it becomes like fire burning in my heart, imprisoned in my bones;I grow weary holding it in, I cannot endure it.

Liturgy of the Word

RESPONSORIAL PSALM Psalm 63:2, 3-4, 5-6, 8-9

(R.) My soul is thirsting for you, O Lord my God.

O God, you are my God whom I seek;for you my flesh pines and my soul thirstslike the earth, parched, lifeless and without water.

(R.) My soul is thirsting for you, O Lord my God.

Thus have I gazed toward you in the sanctuaryto see your power and your glory,For your kindness is a greater good than life;my lips shall glorify you.

(R.) My soul is thirsting for you, O Lord my God.

Thus will I bless you while I live;lifting up my hands, I will call upon your name.As with the riches of a banquetshall my soul be satisfied, and with exultant lips my mouth shall praise you.

(R.) My soul is thirsting for you, O Lord my God.

You are my help, and in the shadow of your wings I shout for joy.My soul clings fast to you;your right hand upholds me.

(R.) My soul is thirsting for you, O Lord my God.

A READING FROM THE LETTER OF SAINT PAUL TO THE ROMANSI urge you, brothers and sisters,by the mercies of God,to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God, your spiritual worship.

Do not conform yourselves to this agebut be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that you may discern what is the will of God,what is good and pleasing and perfect.

Order of the MassA READING FROM THE HOLY GOSPEL ACCORDING TO MATTHEW Matthew 16:21-27

Jesus began to show his disciplesthat he must go to Jerusalemand suffer greatlyfrom the elders, the chief priests, and the scribes, and be killed and on the third day be raised. Then Peter took Jesus aside and began to rebuke him,“God forbid, Lord!No such thing shall ever happen to you.”He turned and said to Peter,“Get behind me, Satan! You are an obstacle to me.You are thinking not as God does, but as human beings do.”

Then Jesus said to his disciples,“Whoever wishes to come after me must deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me.For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it,but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.What profit would there be for oneto gain the whole worldand forfeit his life?Or what can one give in exchange for his life? For the Son of Man will come with his angelsin his Father’s glory, and then he will repay all according to his conduct.”

COMMUNION MEDITATION I Heard the Voice of Jesus Say

I heard the voice of Jesus say,“Come unto Me and rest;lay down, O weary one,lay down your head upon My breast.” I came to Jesus, as I was,so weary, worn, and sad;I found in Him a resting place,And He has made me glad.

I heard the voice of Jesus say,“Behold, I freely givethe living water; thirsty one, stoop down and drink, and live.”

I came to Jesus, and I drankof that life-giving stream;my thirst was quenched, my soul revived,And now I live in Him.

I heard the voice of Jesus say,“I am this dark world’s light;Look unto Me, your morn shall rise, and all your day be bright.”I looked to Jesus, and I foundin Him my star, my sun; And in that light of life I’ll walktill trav’ling days are done.

CLOSING HYMN

Holy God, we praise Thy name;Lord of all, we bow before Thee! All on Earth thy rule acclaim,All in Heav’n above adore Thee; Infinite Thy vast domain,Everlasting is Thy reign.

Hark! The loud celestial hymnAngel choirs above are raising,Cherubim and Seraphim,In unceasing chorus praising;Fill the Heav’ns with sweet accord:“Holy, Holy, Holy Lord.”

Lo! The apostolic trainJoin, the sacred Name to hallow;prophets swell the loud refrain,And the white road martyrs follow; And from morn to set of sun,Through the Church the song goes on.

Holy Father, Holy Son,Holy Spirit, Three we name Thee; While in essence only One,undivided God we ‘claim Thee; And adoring bend the knee,While we own the mystery.
