Youth Development Officer

As a member of the Council’s Governance and Community team, the Youth Development Officer supports the development of young people to participate in, connect with and contribute to community, civic and cultural life.

Located in Roxby Downs, South Australia, along with over 4,000 residents, you can enjoy a relaxed outback lifestyle without compromising on access to services and facilities. With excellent R-12 education, sport and recreation, medical, and business services, daily air services to Adelaide and a range of housing options, Roxby Downs is fast becoming Australia’s mining town of choice.

You will report to the Group Manager – Governance and Community and work closely with staff in relation to the planning and delivery of a range of high quality services and programs for Roxby Downs' youth.

Having a tertiary qualification in the field of social science or youth would be highly desirable. The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate a strong commitment to community development approaches in working creatively and effectively with young people, agencies, service providers and the broader community. Ideally you will be able to demonstrate significant relevant experience working with young people from a broad range of backgrounds in a community based setting and substantial experience in seeking and applying for funding. Essential to this role are well developed written and oral communication skills, an ability to relate well to young people and the wider community and proven ability to develop, maintain and evaluate youth programs. Child Safe Environments/Mandated Notification qualifications, current drivers licence and Department of Communities and Social Inclusion (DCSI) Child Related Employment Screening are required.
