One session will be taught by a coach from Redbridge
Sports Centre and this lesson will focus on outdoor games,
which will include ball skills, net games and athletics.
Pupils will also participate in a sailing/canoeing course, atFairlop Waters.
Numeracy
We will continue to learn from the revised framework
unit 1 of Blocks A, B, C, D and E. These units willinclude place value,
addition, subtraction, measures, shape, multiplication,
division, fractions, decimals, percentages, data handling,
word problems and number sequences.SATS Preparation exam techniques/strategies.

Application of mathematic skills (Designing, making andevaluating maths board games)
Literacy
This will include guided reading, spellings, word
and sentence work. There will be an emphasis
on revision for SATS. As well as this yourchildren will be involved in book-making,
writing-workshops, debates and drama. They
will also complete the secondary school
transition unit.
Please support your child by hearing them readand signing their reading diary frequently. Alsoencourage your children to complete the weekly
homework to a very good standard.

Religious Education
We will be focusing on the Parables and their meanings,
and looking at special qualities in ourselves and others.We will also be learning about relationships with the
natural world, looking at how people influence others by
their words and actions. Whilst this is a focus in Year 6 we
will aim to embrace festivals of ever reli ion.
Science
Investigational science relating to life processes, materials and physical forces. There
will be an environmental study at Wat Tyler, which will cover interdependence and
adaptation, food chains, webs and habitats.
