Overview
Introduction► Located in the North east part of the State
surrounded by Gulbarga in the North,Raichur in the South, Bijapur in the Westand Hedal of AP in the East
► This district was carved out from theerstwhile Gulbarga district as the 30th
district of Karnataka on 10 April 2010
► Divided into 3 Talukas namely Shahapur,Shorapur and Yadgir
► Yadgir is the district headquarter, 530 Kmaway from Bangalore
► Yadgir district is the 2nd smallest district inthe state
► Vast stretch of fertile black cotton soil of thedistrict is known for bumper red gram,cotton, jawar crops & Groundnut
► Known for cluster of cement industries anda distinct stone popularly know as“Malakheda Stone”
► Geographical area constitutes 8.46 percentarea of the State
Yadgir… district has its deep routes in history.The famous dynasties of the south, the Satavahans, the
Chalukyas of Badami, the Rastrkuta, Shahis, the Aidil shahis, the NizamShahis have ruled over the district.
Popularly known as “Yadavagiri” by the locals, was once acapital of the Yadava Kingdom
