This year’s incoming class includes 21 new wrestlers. At 125 we have three freshmen. Adding depth to this weight will be NJ State Qualifier Sergo Grigorian (Fair Lawn) and Zach Schober (Lancaster Catholic). At 133 Chuck Glatz (Shawnee) will see lots of mat time. Chuck also was a NJ State Qualifier. Pitt transfer and local talent Chris Albright will look to make his name known at 141 this season. Chris was a PIAA runner-up his senior year. Gilanthony Arroyo (William Floyd), Jonny Volz (Hereford), Victor Signorelli (Twin Valley), and Jon Zehnbauer (Voorhees) will all be looking to hit the mats at 141. Volz was a Maryland State Qualifier, while Signorelli set the school record for wins at his High School last season.

At 149 several new faces will be looking to get into this year’s starting line-up. Danny Miller (Octorara) leads this group winning 3 District

Whats up everyone? This is

York College Junior Captain, Rocky (Alex Martocello)

I just wanted to tell everyone know how hard the team has been working during our "captains

season" in preparation for our season. The captain's workouts allow us to see what gains our upper classmen have made over the summer during the off season, and

second to see what new freshman talent and potential we have on the team. Most importantly, it gives us time to bond together as a team and get to know one another.

As the workouts have been going on the last few weeks its easy to see that there has been a lot of work done over the summer in preparation for the up coming

season and some guys are really

hungry to do some

damage on a national level. As a whole I’ve seen a lot improvement from the first work out until now, guys are really

start to feed off of each other and improve. As usual, Junior captain Matt Heisey, is setting the standard for captains runs by pushing the pace, and his

teammates through these last few weeks. Several freshman, David Chee Melnick and Trent Bond are showing great work and I believe that they can start to push the older

guys. Another person who has has been looking good, and has the lighter guys running a little bit faster, because no little guy wants to be passed by the heavyweight, is

big man Joe Erb.

Overall I feel good looking at

our team as we start to transition into our pre-season, and am excited to see what our team can start to do

on the mat. Thanks to all of our fans for all of your support and we can't wait to see you in the stands as we start working towards a great season!

YOUR SUPPORT IS NEEDED FOR YCP WRESTLING: HOW TO WIN WITH US!

Thank you for taking the time to read this newsletter. At York College we are fortunate to be a part of a winning tradition. As we keep moving forward on the mats we hope you will consider being a part of our journey back into the Top 20 and beyond with us. As we grow our international wrestling program in the spring of 2010-2011 we are seeking additional funding options aside from traditional fundraisers in the athletic world. Each season a number of our wrestlers participate in local and national fund raising efforts to help us secure the funds necessary to offset costs of travel, training materials, and coaches education at national level events. In the Spring 2011 semester we want to grow our Freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling program to help our athletes continue to learn and compete at the highest levels. Currently scheduled are trips to the USA Wrestling Northeast Regionals, the USA Wrestling FILA Jr. Tournament and the USA Wrestling University Nationals. As a staff we are fortunate to have wrestlers that want to compete in the USAW FS/GR program and we hope you too see the value in our endeavors. Your donations can directly effect the success of our wrestlers tomorrow and beyond! At right you will find the donation sheet that will facilitate your contribution to the continued success of York College Wrestling. If your employer is interested in sponsoring a major trip in the Spring semester to the Virginia Duals, the Budd Whitehill Division III Duals, Metro Conference Championships, or the 2011 NCAA Championships please let us know today.

Spring 2011 Plans

The York College Spartan Wrestling is looking to increase the visibility and extend the excellence of the program by organizing a full USA Wrestling schedule for the 2011 spring season. The wrestlers will take to the mats in the international styles of Freestyle and Greco-Roman to enhance the skills they have picked up during the year.

York College is currently putting together a bid to host a major USA Wrestling event and has been approached by many other organizations to serve as the host for various wrestling events. York College is growing as a destination for wrestling in all styles. With the advent of the spring season the college wrestlers will begin the resurrection of the Gang Green

Wrestling Club in hopes of earning spots in the FILA Jr. World Team Trials and the University Nationals in April 2011.
