What happens if students don’t follow their plan?

◦ Nothing much, at first.◦ But what about all those students that do follow it?◦ However the smart money is on these personalised plans.◦ Some might be blank, an open canvas◦ You (both parents and students) are involved in the process◦ A list of available interventions given to students◦ You sign off on it, so do we◦We make sure everything is covered◦ No fighting over students/confusion by students

Key Messages

◦ Distributed during Parents evening.

◦ Will be completed during form time with support from tutors.◦ Staff input and parent input needed◦ Student input essential

◦ Coordinated by K MacHugh if students need any further advice or guidance for any subjects before, during or after school.

◦ Make use of the extra classes available and work with us by ensuring attendance to any suggested revision sessions.

◦ Any questions please grab me before you collect results!

Core PE or Personal Study◦ As part of our offer of support to students as you prepare for you GCSE examinations we are offering students a

choice of activities during the Core PE lesson period 5 and 6 on a Tuesday. They will continue with their single PE lesson.

◦ Students will be able to choose to either continue with their PE lessons or complete personalised study

◦ If they opt for personalised study they can make a further choice:

1. self-directed study - you decide what you are studying and manage your time accordingly. The sessions will be supervised by staff to provide revision advice and maintain a calm focused working environment.

2. Subject focused sessions - we are able to provide a limited number of staff to support certain subjects. In these subject sessions they will be there to answer subject based questions and advice on which areas to focus on. Within these sessions by agreement with the member of staff, you may also be able to complete other examination focused work.

Students will receive a form on firefly to complete to indicate their initial choice of continuing with core PE or opting for personalised study. If they choose the latter, they will be able to express a preference for the session they wish to attend.
