Pupils should test themselves, starting with the topics which they find most challenging. This provides more time to develop understanding. Ask
the teacher for help to clari-fy understanding.
Pupils should produce work (homework, classwork, etc) of
which they can be proud. With this mentality it is in-evitable they will receive positive feedback which should further motivate.
Revise regularly. Pupils should use their notes and the text book to make re-vision notes at the end of each topic. This will cut workload at a later date!
TIPS
TO
SUPPORT LEARNING
Regularly check your child’s folder; they may require
help to organise it.
Look through their work and question them on what they
have learned.
Periodically ask your child to teach you something they learned in class.
Talk to your child about Business/ current affairs
items in the news.
Encourage a good study habit, e.g., making regular re-
vision notes.
Check tests, en-sure corrections
are completed and sign scripts.
Check that work is completed on time
and to a high standard.

QUESTION INTERPRETATION:
1. Follow the rule of 3, read the question 3 times:
On the first read through, identify the SKILL required—circle the com-mand word, for example, analyse, explain, discuss, assess, describe, evalu-ate—you should know what these words require as you will be practising these questions throughout the course of study.
On the second read through, circle the THEORY being tested, for exam-ple, specialisation, quality, private limited companies.
On the final read, examine the MARK ALLOCATION and accordingly, de-cide how to structure your answer.
FOR QUESTIONS THAT CONTAIN THE WORD EVALUATE, APPLY THE ‘DAD’ TECHNIQUE:
D Develop argument fully, justifying why you are stating the point you are making. Ensure your argument is applied to the context.
A Allocate the marks, structuring your response according to the
requirements of the question and mark allocation.
D Decide/conclude/judge: do the advantages outweigh the disadvantages? What is the most important factor?
FOR QUESTIONS THAT TYPICALLY CONTAIN THE WORD ANALYSE/DISCUSS/EXAMINE, APPLY THE ‘DA’ TECHNIQUE WHICH IS THE ABOVE ONLY WITHOUT THE LAST ‘D’.
