3rd September– Elevate Education – The Finishing Line (week 7)
Remainder Week 8, 9 – normal lessons, expect full attendance (continued trial feedback; modelling of and refining responses to standards)

• Tuesday 24th September –other school uniform, normal classes
• Wednesday 25th September – Sports Presentation Assembly – 9:00am - 11:00 am Service to School Day (Slave Day)
• Thursday 26th – Magical Mystery Tour: Port Stephens School will fund, Bring Lunch, Sunscreen, Water
• Friday 27th – Year 12 Presentation Assembly – 9:30am

HSC and ATAR Release
• This year HSC results and ATAR are released on eth same day
• Tuesday 17th December
• Sent to students phone as notification after registering for UAC
• Staff may organise support sessions and subject specific presentations with groups
• ILC will be staffed and open Week 2 of the Holidays Monday 7th October to Friday 11th October
• ILC in the Library will be available Week 1 of Term 4 – ideal for staff support , clarification and reassurance
• HSC Commences Thursday 17th October week 1 term 4

• Students should have completed UAC registration and NESA (you must make payment to validate account)

• UAC Guide available, Uni Open days scheduled• Should be applying for accommodation NOW!• HSC Workshops – availability over holidays to give a

What are Equity Scholarships?Equity Scholarships (ES) assist disadvantaged students with the general costs associated with tertiary study.Equity Scholarships are awarded to students from low-socio-economic backgrounds, particularly those who receive Centrelink income support payments such as ABSTUDY, Austudy, Youth Allowance, NewstartAllowance, Disability Support Pension, Parenting Payment (Single) or the Carer Payment.

EDUCATIONAL ACCESS SCHEME (EAS)Special consideration for students who have suffered some form of disadvantage which affected their schooling through Years 11 and/or 12.• Disadvantage lasting 6 months or longer and beyond a student’s control.• 6 broad categories, 25 different disadvantage codes.• Apply online by 30 Nov to receive eligibility notice before ATAR release.• Additional documentation may be required.• Educational Impact Statement is a statement provided by your school in support of
your application• If successful under EAS you may be eligible for some adjustment factors.• Download document package – have these filled in and then upload

SCHOOLS RECOMMENDATION SCHEME (SRS)
One way institutions make early offers using criteria other than, or in addition to, the ATAR.• You could be made an offer to uni before ATARs are even released!• Online application, open August 2018. Note, this is a secondary application to
your main UAC application.• 12 participating institutions (2018).• Not all courses are offered through SRS.• Institutions may use your Year 11 results, your school’s rating of your aptitudes
and abilities and your EAS application (if applicable) when considering your application.
• Conditional and unconditional offers made.

EQUITY SCHOLARSHIPSDesigned to assist financially disadvantaged students with the general costs associated with going to uni.• Most institutions award to applicants who are receiving Centrelink payments and/or
who can demonstrate additional types of disadvantage.• Online application form via the UAC website. Note, this is a secondary application to a
student’s main UAC application.• Supporting documents will be needed and can be uploaded online to your equity
application.Other Scholarships• Check with individual institutions for information on the scholarships they offer.
Closes 15th December– Get them in as soon as possible!
How Much Work is recommended• Treat the three weeks as school weeks• Morning, Afternoon, Evening – 3 sessions (work for 2)• Set some goals each day/week, maintain momentum• Start the day with exam questions/papers? – 1 session• 1 session of learning and review
• Time off each day is a must!• Stop and evaluate after first week

• SLEEP, BODY, MIND, NUTRITION, HEALTH, BALANCE• Train your body/mind to go at 9:00 am
• Full Exam Practise, Pick a HSC year and do under exam conditions, be the marker (discuss with peer? Teacher?)
• Can you do a paper every second day in 1 subject
• Make use of school week 1 – change of venue refreshes and focuses
• FOCUS ON CONFIDENT PREPARATION, Look at timetable, have a plan and stick to it!

Illness and Misadventure
Information Guide for Students
The New South Wales Educational Standards Authority (NESA) Illness/Misadventure program assists students who:• are prevented from attending an examination or assessment (including a
practical examination) due to illness or unforseen misadventure, or• consider that their performance in an examination or assessment has
been affected by illness or misadventure immediately before or during the examination or assessment.
Applications may be in respect of
Illness or physical injuries suffered directly by the student which allegedly affected the student’s performance in the assessment (eg: influenza, asthma attack, cut hand)
Misadventure – any event beyond the student’s control which allegedly affected the student’s performance in the assessment (eg death of a friend or family member, involved in traffic accident, isolation by flood)
