YEAR 5 MEET AND GREET … As another school term comes to an end I would like to express my appreciation to staff and parents. By working together we have been able to provide quality learning experiences for children in a safe and caring environment. There were many highlights for the term – quite definitely too numerous to mention all. Excursions to Sydney, Canberra and Coffs Harbour, participation in numerous sporting activities, fantastic assemblies, public speaking, extra-curricula activities and the P&C Fathers Day stall and art project have complimented our academic programs. Most importantly, I observe each day, the many children working hard with literacy and numeracy lessons. I wish everyone a safe and relaxing break in anticipation of a very busy and rewarding Term 4. We look forward to working with you again when school resumes on Monday, 10 th October. Tell Them From Me: We are hoping to have 100 parents complete the survey to give a broad range of parent responses. The web address for the survey is: https://nsw.tellthemfromme.com/moreepublic Tell Them From Me is an online survey system that helps schools capture the views of students, teachers and parents. The results from the three groups will be amalgamated to provide valuable feedback on what the school does well and some suggestions for what we may enhance. Parent On-line Payments: It is now possible for parents to make online payments to the school for amounts owing for students, via a secure payment page hosted by Westpac. The payment page is accessed from the front page of the schools website by selecting $ Make a payment Items that can be paid include voluntary school contributions, subject contributions, excursions, sales to students and creative and practical arts activities (these include band, drama and dance). YEAR 5 MEET AND GREET …

As another school term comes to an end I would like to express my appreciation to staff and parents. Year 3 Excursion: Best wishes to Year 3 students who head off to Lake Keepit Sport and Recreation camp on Thursday. I’m sure they will have a brilliant time participating in activities such as archery, rock climbing and canoeing. Thank you in advance to staff for giving up your time so the children can enjoy this fabulous experience. Kindergarten 2017: A reminder that Moree Public School is now accepting enrolment applications for Kindergarten in 2017. Children who turn five (5) years of age by 31st July 2017 are eligible to enrol. Please contact the school office for an enrolment form and submit the completed form accompanied by copies of your child’s birth certificate, immunization certificate and confirmation of residency. Should you wish to discuss your child’s enrolment, please contact the school office for an appointment with Mrs Hosegood or Mr King. Where can you find MPS coming events and activities? The School calendar of events can be found on the Skoolbag App under the Sentral login section. This is the most direct link but please be mindful that variations can occur and Alerts are sent as a reminder. Please also tune into the daily school news segment on 2VM at 7.05am that always has current updates, with thanks to Ando and this newsletter as additional reminders of events. The P&C association generously supports our school in many ways – including a range of fundraising activities; gardening projects for the playground and the running of the canteen. The group meets every third Monday at the school library and while it is appreciated that not everyone can attend an evening meeting, there are many other ways families may care to be involved. Please read the message below and consider popping your name on the contact list – the co-ordinators of whole school events could then make personal contact when a few extra hands may be needed.

Mr Adrian King 2. P&C ASSOCIATION • MEETING: The next general meeting is scheduled for Monday, 17th October commencing at 6.00pm in the school library. • Being a part of the P & C is a great way engage with the school and hear about what is happening within the school community. We would love to see some new faces at our monthly meetings, however understand that attending meetings is not always practical or possible. • If you would like to contribute to P&C activities and would like to be added to a contact list, please leave your details with the school office or email them to [email protected]. An hour at the Mothers Day stall or helping serve snacks at the athletics carnival, would be a small contribution on your behalf, but would benefit the school greatly. We thank you for your support.

3. CRICKET Congratulations to the boys cricket team who competed in round 4 against Tamworth Public School. Although the boys did not win they participated with great enthusiasm and sportsmanship on a cold and overcast day. Mr Cooper was particularly pleased with the way the boys bowled and fielded during the match. Thank you to all the parents who have assisted with transporting the children to and from the venues throughout the year. Your contribution to MPS sport is greatly appreciated. Top scorers with the batting: Jack Van Vegchel 9 Harry Hardman 4 and Kye Boland 4. Bowling: Kobie Rutledge 1 for 9 off 5 overs; Jack Van Vegchel 2 for 20 off 5 overs; Riley Bettington 1 for 16 off 5 overs; Harry Hardman 0 for 9 off 3 overs; Tom Hatton 0 for 18 off 4 overs; Tom Watts 0 for 10 off 2 overs and Kye Boland 0 for 5 from 1 over.

HEADLICE has nothing to do with one’s hygiene and they do not hop, jump or fly – 95% are transmitted by close contact – do not share hats, headbands or pillows. Please, please check your child’s hair everyday and treat if necessary – a team effort by all families will help keep this frustrating problem at bay.
