There will be Learning Support staff on hand to help you with computer issues, assessment tasks, homework, Canvas, diary, ‘Learning Field’ online texts, study notes, etc.

Maths Pathway• A system that pinpoints exactly what
each student needs to be working on. Individualised pathway for every student.
• The teacher works with small groups on a single topic.
• Rich tasks are done each fortnight with entry points available for every student and multiple exit points that are designed to extend.
How parents can support at home• Have a look at Maths Pathway• Ensure the laptop is charged and brought to
school.• Make sure students are completing 8 modules
every fortnight. 15 minutes of homework most nights.
• When students have done their fortnightly test focus on the growth they have made. You can see this on their Maths Pathway dashboard.
• Encourage students to come to Maths Help– Tuesday 8 am Room 6

• Class room requirements: book, BYOD, PENCIL & eraser (not just pens!)• Encourage conversation about HOW they are learning, not just what• Revising of videos, animations used in class- always available on Canvas• HWK: should be no anxiety about ‘getting it right’, rather having a stab!

French Curriculum Overview• The French curriculum contains two sections; language and culture elements. • Both of these are integrated throughout every unit.
• Unit 1: Introduction to French- Benefits of language learning - Greetings & introductions- Basic geography & customs
• Unit 2: Meeting and Describing People- Formality & discussion of people & personalities- Numbers 1-30 & days of the week- Non-verbal communication, café culture

How can I support my child at home?
• Organisational support– Create a Term Planner together- assessments due, key College dates and
events– Encourage children to pack bag their bag the night before
• Homework• Cleared dedicated workspace• Encourage them to break homework up into manageable chunks• Remind them to use their diary to check homework not rely on memory• Encourage your child to not leave assignments to the last minute• Support your child, but do not do their homework for them
How can I support my child at home?
• Balanced Lifestyle– Extra-curricula activities, quality family time, socialising with friends all essential– Careful not to overschedule your child- can become overwhelming
• Devices – Social Media, Gaming, Phones etc.– Be mindful of the amount of time your child spends on devices for non-homework tasks– Set time limits for device time (including messaging friends)– Talk with your child about how to safely use social media (if you don’t know learn) – Keep phones and laptops out of their room at night- set up a charging station perhaps in
the kitchen– Important to set up good habits now
How can I support my child at home?
• Friendships– Can experience ups and downs – Groups often change throughout the year– If your child is struggling socially, please contact their tutor or Head of
House
• Emotional support– Do your best to keep communication lines open with your child – Listen and validate your child’s concerns and worries before offering
advice or strategies to support
