    b Based on the maximumbenefits, yourtotal tuition charges are $3,600 (12x $300). The maximum payable inyour state is $2,400 (12 x $200). YourPost-9/11GI Bill Benefit is $2,400.Your fees of $700 are less than the$1,000 maximumfor the fall semester,so your Post-9/11GI Bill benefitwillcover the $700 chargesfor fees. VAwill paya total of $3,100 to your schoolfor your tuition and fees Post-9/11GIBill payment.You are responsible orthe difference of $1,200 in tuition thatexceeds the maximumpayable.

    What Is The Yellow Ribbon Proaram?TheYellow RibbonProgramwas established bythe Post-9111Veterans EducationalAssistanceAct of2008. This programallows institutionsofhigher learning(suchas colleges, universities,andother degree-grantingschools) in the UnitedStates to voluntarily enter into an agreementwith VAto fund tuition andfee expenses thatexceed the highestpublic in-stateundergraduatetuition andfee rate in their state. The institutioncancontribute a specifieddollar amountof thoseexpenses,andVAwill matchthecontribution-notto exceed 50% of thedifference. This providesthe possibilityforyouto eam a degree at nocost!Am I Eliaible?You may qualify for the Yellow RibbonProgram benefit if you:

    b Served an aggregate period of activeduty after September 10,2001, of atleast 36 months;

    b Were honorably discharged from activeduty for a service-connected disabilityand you served 30 continuous daysafter September 10,2001 or

    b Dependents are eligible for Transfer ofEntitlement under the Post-911 1 GI Billbased on an individual's service underthe eligibility criteria listed above.

    b Individuals eligible for the Post-911 1GI Bill through the Fry Scholarship(children of active duty servicemembers who died on activeduty since 9-11-01), DO NOT qualifyfor the Yellow Ribbon Program.

    To receive the Yellow Ribbon Program benefitsyou also must be enrolled in an approvedprogram offered by an institution of higherlearning that participates in the Yellow RibbonProgram.

    How Does The Yellow Ribbon ProaramBenefit Me?The Post-9111 GI Bill pays up to the highestpublic in-state undergraduate tuition andfees. You may have charges that exceedthis amount if you are attending a privateinstitution,graduateschool, or are in anout-of-state status. You can view the highestpublic in-state undergraduate tuition and feerates by state at http://www.gibill.va.gov/GI-Bill-lnfolCH331Tuition-and-fees.htm.If your charges exceed what is postedandyou are enrolled at a participatingschool,additional funds may be available to youthrough the Yellow Ribbon Program.Institutionsof higher learningthat enter intoa Yellow Ribbon ProgramAgreement withVA will choose the amount of funds they willcontributetoward your tuition and fees. VAwill match that amount and issue paymentdirectly to the institutionon your behalf.What Must Mv School Aaree To?The school must agree to:

    b Enter into an official agreement withVA;b Provide contributionsto eligible

    individualswho apply for the YellowRibbon Programon a first-come first-served basis;

    b Make contributionstoward theprogramon behalf of the individual inthe form of a grant, scholarship, etc.;

    b State the dollar amount that will becontributedfor each participantduringthe academic year; and

    b State the maximum number ofindividualsfor whom contributionswillbe made in any given academic year.

    HowWill I Know If Mv School IsPartici~atinan The Yellow RibbonProaram?You can search for approvedprogramsand Yellow Ribbon Program schools on theDepartment of Veterans Affairs GI Bill websiteat http://www.gibill.va.gov/GI-Bill-Info/ CH33NRPNRP-List.htm.When Can I Receive Benefits UnderThe Yellow Ribbon Proaram?Benefitsare payable for training pursuedonor after August I,2009, if you are enrolled ina school participating in the Yellow RibbonProgram. No paymentscan be made underthis programfor training pursued before thatdate.Your school will let you know:

    b if you are accepted to participate in theYellow Ribbon Program, and

    b the maximum amount that may beprovidedto you on a yearly basis.
