What is energy?
•Energy is ability to do work
•Energy is measured in joules (J).
•The formula W=Fx
•W:Work(Joule)
•F:Force(Newton)
•x:Force applied a distance(meter)
•Energy used during a certain time is called power P
•P=W/t (Watt)
•t:Time(second)
What is photoelectric effect?
•Solar energy creates electricity by using photoelectric effect
What is solar energy?•Solar energy is a system which convert the sun light energy into the electricity.
•Si dopped with P called N type•Si dopped with B called B type
What is solar power plant?•Solar power plant is used to produce electricity by using the sunlight energy.
•There are two types of solar power plant;
1. Photovoltaic solar power plant
2. Solar thermal power plant
Photovoltaic solar power plant
Solar thermal power plant
Technological Effects of Solar energy1. Water Resouces
2. Climate Change
3. Visual and sound pollution
4. Soil effect
5. Photovoltaic Cell Recycling
Water resouces•Concentrating solar thermal power system
•The Mojave Solar project which is 250MW CSP plant. Approximately 16,000 gallons of water per night would be used for mirror washing.
•Photovoltaic system
•Panel cleaning
Climate change
•CO2 emissions eliminated each
year: 350,000 tons for 250MW project.
Visual and sound pollution•Energy is ability to do work
•Energy is measured in joules (J).
•The formula W=Fx
•W:Work(Joule)
•F:Force(Newton)
•x:Force applied a distance(meter)
Visual and sound pollution
Soil effect
1Acres=4047m2 1Yards= 0.9144 meter
•Solar thermal power plants require 100% vegetation removal.
•412,600 cubic yards of vegetation would be moved in California.
•To illustrate, 80,000 MW of concentrated solar thermal generation under California's 33% renewable portfolio standart will require 500,000 acres of land
Photovoltaic cell recycling•Complex process
•Consist of glass copper aluminium and other materials
•Detection of the material for efficient recycling
•R&D are going on
Social Effects
•Job creation •Clean Energy•Oil dependency•Energy indipendence•And also, visiting a place in Turkey to learn •the social effects.
