History lovers, music aficionados or literary types will enjoy the cultural heritage of the area, too, with its connection to Elgar and to Evelyn Waugh’s Brideshead Revisited. There are plenty of restaurants and gastro pubs to enjoy in Malvern and the surrounding villages, in particular the Swan Inn by Hanley Swan’s village green. There are local shops, a Post Office, village hall and primary school in Hanley Swan, with an excellent range of both state and private schools in Malvern and beyond.”

OutsideThe property is approached via a gravelled carriage driveway and has a large front lawn with entertaining areas. There is a detached double garage to the side of the house and a private courtyard to the rear of the property. A handy storage room is located off the courtyard and houses the oil tank.

Hanley Swan is a 19th Century village located in Worcestershire, a few miles from Malvern, and boasts a gastro pub, village store and post office, as well as a village hall and primary school. Malvern has all the amenities any family would require such as Waitrose, Malvern Theatre, a cinema and plenty of pubs and restaurants – and the Malvern Hills if you are a keen walker. Great Malvern train station gives access to the rest of the country with regular services to Birmingham and London.

Hanley Swan is much the newer of the Hanleys. Hanley Castle is in the Doomsday Book, Hanley Swan is 19th Century. There is a great gastro pub in the village which draws dining trade from a wide area and has great beer. There is a village store and post office, as well as a village hall and primary school. There are lots of community events in the village such as a “Big Lunch” in the summer and carols in the winter.

Every other week sees Village Market and Repair Cafe in the village hall. Hanley Swan boasts both an Anglican Church and a Catholic Church, most English Villages only have one church however one of the landowning heirs married an Italian woman in the 19th Century and commissioned Pugin to build a Catholic church for his new wife.

Malvern has its roots in the mid-19th Century when local landowner and Lady of the Manor Lady Foley sponsored much of the development of Great Malvern as a Victorian Spa Resort. Her name and fingerprints can be seen all over Malvern, from Lady Foley’s Tea Rooms at Gt Malvern Station, to the quarries of the hills, and all the Malvern Stone buildings in Great Malvern itself. CS Lewis was a schoolboy at Malvern College and went on to write the Narnia novels including ‘The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe’. The lamppost from this book is modelled on Malvern’s gas lights, the only town in the UK to still run gas fired street lighting. Malvern’s other great cultural boast is being the home of Elgar, he spent most of his youth and much of his life in the town and is buried in St Wulstan’s on the Wells Road. The Malvern Hills is a popular spot with walkers. Morgan Cars are situated and manufactured in the town.
