    Yleisöllä on vapaa pääsy Pyynikkisaliin seuraamaan kilpailua. Sisäänpääsy saliin vain aplodien aikana.

  • Tampereen Musiikkiakatemia ja Majaoja-säätiö järjestävät yhteistyössä Tampere Filharmonian, Taideyliopiston Sibelius-Akatemian ja Porin Palmgren-konservatorion kanssa Majaoja-lyömä- soitinkilpailun Tampereen Musiikkiakatemialla 2.-5.10.2019. Kilpailu on avoin kansalaisuudesta riippumatta kaikille lyömäsoittajille. Kilpailu järjes- tetään kolmatta kertaa, ja se laajenee nyt ensim-mäistä kertaa koko maailman laajuiseksi.

    Kilpailussa on kolme sarjaa: A: Avoin kaikille iästä riippumatta, B: Vuonna 1999 syntyneet ja sitä nuoremmat, C: Vuonna 2004 syntyneet ja sitä nuoremmat, sekä kamarimusiikkiin keskittyvä Katselmussarja.

    Tuomareina kilpailusarjoissa toimivat lyömäsoitin-taiteilijat Tim Ferchen (puheenjohtaja, FI), She-e Wu (US), Marta Klimasara (DE) ja Harri Lehtinen (FI).

    The Majaoja Percussion Competition is organized by the Tampere Music Academy in cooperation with Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra, the Sibelius Academy of the University of the Arts and the Pori Palmgren Conservatory. The competition takes place 2.– 5.10.2019 in Tampere, Finland. The competition is open to all percussionists, regardless of nationality. The competition is held for the third time and has grown to be worldwide international for the first time.

    The competition is divided into three categories: A: Open to all with no age restrictions, B: Participants born in 1999 or later, C: Participants born in 2004 or later, and a Review Category: For chamber music groups, no age limit.

    The jury of the competition categories consists of percussion artists Tim Ferchen (chair, FI), She-e Wu (US), Marta Klimasara (DE) and Harri Lehtinen (FI).

  • Yi Chen, a Taiwanese classical percussionist and marimbist, is now pursuing Master of Music in Percussion Performance at the Northwestern University, studying with She-e Wu. As an active soloist, his enthusiastic, and virtuous performances have been recognized by judges from United States, Eu-rope, and Asia by being awarded the first prize of the Great Plains Marimba Competition, and second prizes of both EN-KOR International Music Competition and National Music Competition of Taiwan. Yi Chen had his Bachelor of Music degree at the Manhattan School of Music (MSM) as a re-cipient of the President’s Award Scholarship, and the first Taiwanese percussion major student ever accepted into the school, studying with Christopher Lamb, Duncan Patton, Kyle Zerna, and She-e Wu. Being a member of MSM Per-cussion Ensemble which just celebrated its 60th anniversary concert in March, 2018, he has collaborated with Jeffery Milarsky, Claire Heldrich, Mike Perdue, Jude Traxler, Steve Schick, and Racz Zoltan.

    Grzegorz ChwalińskiGrzegorz Chwaliński was born on March 3, 2000, and began his adventure with percussion in 2005. He started learning to play the instrument in 2007 at the music school named after Oskar Kolberg in Radom. Grzegorz is currently a student at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen in the class of prof. Gert Mortensen.

    For years, he has been perfecting marimba, vibraphone, xylophone, snare drum, timpani, drum-set and multi-per-cussion. He has won prizes at national and international competitions. He has performed in Lithuania, Russia, Ger-many, France, Austria, Bulgaria, Montenegro, Burma, Italy and Denmark.

    The artist is a member of the Danish percussion group Per-curama, with which he toured Burma. The musician collabo-rated with such formations and institutions as the National Philharmonic in Warsaw, the Warsaw Chamber Opera, the Polish Radio Orchestra, the Symphony Orchestra of the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw, the Military Orchestra in Radom, and the Świętokrzyska Philharmonic named after Oskar Kolberg in Kielce.

    He participates in many percussion workshops and festivals in Poland and abroad, developing as a drummer. He partici-pated, among others at the Percussive Arts Society Interna-tional Convention in Indianapolis (USA) and Internationale Schlagzeugwoche in Stuttgart (Germany).

  • Pirkkalasta lähtöisin oleva Eppu Hietalahti sukelsi pianon kos-kettimien takaa lyömäsoittimien maailmaan ollessaan 14-vuo-tias. Hän on valmistunut lyömäsoitinpedagogiksi Tampereen Ammattikorkeakoulusta keväällä 2018. Jo parin vuoden ajan Eppu on tutustunut Tanskan lyömäsoitinkulttuuriin Aarhusin Kuninkaallisessa musiikkiakatemiassa sekä Odensen Kansal-lisessa Musiikkiakatemiassa. Hän suorittaa parhaillaan masterio-pintojaan Odensessa.Solistisen repertuaarin esittämisen lisäksi Eppu on aktiivinen orkesteri- ja kamarimuusikko. Hän on vieraillut avustajana usei-den suomalaisten sinfonia- ja sotilasorkesterien lyömäsoitinsek-tioissa. Tanskassa asuessaan Eppu keikkailee säännöllisesti Jyl-landin ja Fynin alueen ammattiorkestereissa. Hän on kartuttanut kokemustaan useiden eurooppalaisten nuoriso-orkesterien jäsenenä. Vapaa-ajallaan Eppu on intensiivisesti tekemisissä ryt-misen musiikin parissa ja keräilee vanhoja vinyylilevyjä genrestä riippumatta.

    Growing up in a small municipality near Tampere, Eppu Hieta-lahti found his interest in percussion at the age 14 after many years of piano studies. He graduated from Tampere University of Applied Sciences during spring 2018 with a Bachelor in Arts and Culture. For over two years now he has explored the Dan-ish percussion culture first in the Royal Academy of Music Aarhus, and later in The National Danish Academy of Music in Odense. Currently Eppu is aiming towards his masters degree in Odense. In ad-dition to working on and performing his soloistic repertoire, Eppu is an active musician in ensembles and orchestras. He has been working as an assistant with many professional orchestras both in Finland and Denmark. He has also gained experience as an active member in multiple European youth orches-tras. Eppu likes to spend his free time educating himself in rhythmic drumming and collecting old vinyl recordings regardless of the genre.

    As an ensemble player, she participated in Interna-tional Percussion Ensemble Week in Croatia and in Jeju International Brass & Percussion Festival as an SNU ensemble player. she is a member of Percussion Ensemble as Talking Drum.

    As a S-tick Duo, she played at Pau Percussion Ensem-ble Festival in France and as a guest of Schlagzeug Nacht in Stuttgart Musikhochschule and Herbst Con-cert in Stuttgart.

His studies first brings him to a Bachelor of Arts in 2017 at the HEMU Lausanne, with Stéphane Borel and the Tchiki Duo (Nicolas Suter, Jacques Hostettler). By this time, he had col-lected fifteen prizes in national and international competitions, and took masterclasses with Keiko Abe, Jean Geoffroy, Peter Prommel, Nebosja J. Zivkovic and other musicians.

    Convinced by the turn that percussion takes in the musical world, he continues his studies by Marta Klimasara and Klaus Dreher at the HMDK Stuttgart for a Master of Percussion, followed by two other masters in pedagogy and contemporary music. Semi-finalist of the 68th ARD competition in Münich, he got awarded by the BR Klassik Sweet Spot Prize as well as the Mozart Gesells-chaft München Prize.

    From baroque to alternative-rock music, Augustin works through different chamber music formations, like the AY! Duo with Youri Rosset, the Lausanne Percussion Quartet, the Chris Hall Band, and more recently a duo with the cellist Martin Egidi. His recitals brought him to Germany, Switzerland and France in events like the Schleswig-Holstein Festival or the Lavaux Classic Festival.  Since 2018, Augustin is supported by the Fritz Gerber Stiftung in Zürich and the Fondation Lyra in Montreux.

    Heigo Rosin is the first solo percussionist to emerge out of Estonia. Despite his young age he has appeared frequently as a soloist with numerous orchestras and solo recitals in all over the Europe and the USA.

    In 2015 Heigo was accepted into the Sponsorship Program of the Orpheum Foundation for the Advance-ment of Young Soloists. In the same year Heigo was also selected as principal percussionist to the World Percussion Group tour in the USA. In January 2017 he made his solo debut in New York in Carnegie Hall. Since 2017 Heigo is the head of Percussion department in Heino Eller Tartu Music College.

    As a renown soloist he has worked with numerous orchestras included MDR Leipzig Symphony Orchestra, Riga Sinfonietta, Kiev Soloists, Klaipeda Chamber Orchestra, Baltic Sea Philharmonic, Estonian National Symphony Orchestra, Tallinn Chamber Orchestra, Vanemuine Symphony Orchestra, collaborating with world class conductors like Kristjan Järvi, Risto Joost, Erki Pehk and Paul Mägi.

    Heigo Rosin started his musical studies in the age of 4 on piano. For now he owns two Bachelor and two Masters degrees in percussion (from Estonia and Belgium) and postgraduate soloist diploma from Denmark.

    During his years of studies Heigo has participated in numerous mas-ter classes of teachers and educators from all over the world. In ad-dition to that he has had personal percussion sessions with the world famous solo percussionist Dame Evelyn Glennie. Heigo has been awarded through various competitions included the 2nd Prize at the Rising Stars Grand Prix 2017 in Berlin, 1st Prize at the Contemporary Music Competition De Linkprijs in the Netherlands (2013), 1st Prize at the Yamaha Scholarship Competition for Percussion 013), 2nd Prize at the Estonian TV competition “Classical Stars” (2013).

    Over ten years of karate practice has inspired Heigo to combine the movements of karate with his percussion playing. This unique aspect of his playing has given Heigo two nicknames: “Percussion Athlete” and “The Karate Kid of Percussion” and makes his perfor-mances extraordinary not only to hear but to see.

  • Hannes Schöggl, born in 1993, startet playing Percussion at the age of six. He is currently in his MA-studies at MUK Vienna with Prof. Nebojša Jovan Živkovic after finishing BA with honors in 2017. He had regular lessons with Anton Mittermayr (Vienna Philharmonic), Anton Mühlhofer, Tomasz Golinski and partici-pated in masterclasses with Keiko Abe, Li Biao, Eriko Daimo, Ney Rosauro, John Wooton, Pei-Ching Wu, Jean Geoffroy and many more.Focusing on contemporary music, he is member of Ensemble Schlagwerk Wien!, Ensemble XX. Jahrhundert and played with ensembles like Studio Percussion Graz, Ensemble Kontrapunk-te and Szene Instrumental. He is head of Percussion at the Vi-enna University Philharmonic and played in local Orchestras like Capella Kalliope, Modus 21, Wiener KammerOrchester, Neue Oper Wien as well as in international orchestras such as Rus-sian State Symphony, Corean Chamber Orchestra and India National Youth Orchestra. His activities brought him to India, China, Spain, Russia, Serbia, Hungary, Belgium and Festivals like Wien Modern, Beijing International Composition Workshop and PSALM Festival Graz and Festival de Musica Contemporanea de Tenerife. He has regularly concerts as Marimba- and Percussion-Soloist and won 1st Price and Grand Prix de Marimba at Drumsfest Russia in Moscow. He has a duo with the famous Organist Manfred Tausch and published his first CD in 2014, called “Orgel trifft Marimba”.

Currently she studies at University of Stavanger faculty of performing arts in Norway with Bastien Ricquebourg. She has taken masterclasses with Michael Burrit, Eriko Daimo, Jean Geoffroy and Eric Sammut She is a prize winner at Gifu international music competition and 2nd prize at Japan Jr Wind & Percussion competition.

    Josef Treutlein, born 1996 in Bamberg, started playing percus-sion at the age of six. Since 2014 he’s been studying in the State University of Music and Performing Arts Stuttgart with Prof. Marta Klimasara, Prof. Jürgen Spitschka, Prof. Harald Löhle und Prof. Klaus Dreher. As a soloist he played with orchestras like the Hofer Symphoniker, the Bamberg Chamber Orchestra and the Würzburg Philharmon-ics. He is winner of several awards. In 2008 he won the 1st Prize at the International Marimba Competition in Nuremberg. Also his participations at the youth competition „Jugend musiziert” brought him prizes up to the national level. At the International Marimba Competition Italy PAS in 2016 he won the 2nd Prize. In 2015 he was a scholar of „Live Music Now”. Two master classes with Peter Sadlo in 2011 and 2016 had a great impact on him. Beside chamber music and world premieres, Josef was a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Germany and is currently part of the Junge Deutsche Philharmonie and academist in Gürzenich Orchestra Cologne.   • I’m Teo De La Cruz, a 20-year old percussion student from Tampere. I started percussion at the age of 13 and it has been a growing passion for me ever since. My favourite instrument from the percussion family has to be the ma-rimba beacuse of its versatility and its beautiful, rich sound. At the time of this competition I’m also doing my military service in the conscript band of the Finnish defence forces.

    Grand Prize Winner of the 2018 New York International Percussion Competition, Will Hopkins is a junior percussionist at the Manhat-tan School of Music in New York City, where he studies with Chris-topher Lamb, Duncan Patton, She-e Wu, and Kyle Zerna. Grow-ing up in Dallas, Texas, Will was a student of Jon Lee of Southern Methodist University and served as Principal Timpanist with the Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra. He also served as Principal Tim-panist with the 2017 International Lyric Academy in Viterbo, Italy, and has appeared with the New York Youth Symphony at Carn-egie Hall, in addition to performing with multiple organizations in and around New York. He has performed under several notable conductors, including Leonard Slatkin, Jane Glover, and Benjamin Zander, and in 2019 he was a percussionist at the Round Top Fes-tival Institute in Round Top, Texas. He has studied privately with Doug Howard, Daniel Druckman, and Emmanuel Séjourné, and has performed in masterclasses by Ed Stephan, Don Liuzzi, and Vadim Karpinos. Will spends his free time reading, drinking cof-fee, and playing chess.

    Lorenz Karasek was born in 2000. He received his first drum lessons at the age of five from Dieter Schumacher in Nagold and moved to his new teacher Marc Lange in Heilbronn five years later. Since the summer semester of 2018, he attended the Hochschule für Musik und Darstel-lende Kunst in Stuttgart as a young scholar with lessons by Klaus Dreher and Marta Klimasara.

    Karasek has won several first prizes in the national music competition “Jugend musiziert” both in solo and ensem-ble music formations. He received the sponsorship award for new music Heilbronn for his interpretation of “Re-bonds B” by Iannis Xenakis, three sponsorship awards for music by the Otto-Rombach-Foundation and a spe-cial prize of the German Foundation for Musical Life. Besides his orchestral activities in many different ensem-bles, Karasek also performed as solo marimba player Séjourné´s “Concerto for Marimba and Strings” with or-chestras such as the Bläserphilharmonie Heilbronn, the Heilbronn Symphony Orchestra and the Young Chamber Orchestra of the region Tauber-Franken.

  • I have been playing percussion for 9 years, I’m in the middle of the tenth year. I am currently learning in Heino Eller music school under Heigo Rosin. I have taken part in the Estonian competition “Best Young Instrumentalist” 4 times, three 1st places and one 2nd place (1st place wasn’t given). I have also taken part in “David Otto Wirkhaus Wind and Percussion competition” three times and re-ceived 1st place every time. I am also a member of ENPO (Estonian Young Wind Orchestra), with whom I have visited festivals in Swit-zerland and Lithuania. In the summer of 2019 I participated in the Eurochestries festival in France with Nõmme Symphonic Wind Or-chestra. I have also taken part in masterclasses of Frédéric Macarez and Antti Rislakki.

    A Polish percussionist now studying in Wrocław. She started her music education on piano before percussion. Her lat-est accomplishments are the 1st place at the XVI West Po-meranian Percussion Competition in Stargard and 1st place at the XX International Chamber Music Groups Competition in Jawor in a duo with Tadeusz Tomaszewski. She played in many concert halls including the National Forum of Music, the Karol Lipiński Music Academy in Wrocław and the Lower Sile-sian Filharmony. She performed with the Opera Wrocławska, Europera Youth Orchestra, played concerts at the DrumBattle Rhythm Festival and with Repercussion Group.

    Skage Rollheim Larsen is 18 years old and has played percus-sion for eight years. Skage is a 2nd grade student at Stavanger Cathedral School for Music, Dance and Drama and receives further music education at the talent program called Young Tal-ents Bjergsted in Stavanger, where he focuses on both classical and jazz repertoires. As a musician he is conscious of practising different musical styles. Skage has a number of 1st prices in vari-ous music competitions, both local and national ones. In 2018 he was a superfinalist in the national competition Ungdommens Musikkmesterskap in Oslo, and the Norwegian Band Federation announced him as Musician of the Year. In May 2018 Skage won the soloist prize when Tasta School Band represented Norway in the European Brass Band Championships in Utrecht, Netherlands. In January 2019 he played at the opening concert for Jugend Musiziert finals in Helsinki. Skage is also invited to a master class/tour with ensemble modern in December 2019.

Olen esiintynyt monien orkestereiden solisteina (esim. Pyynikin Pu-haltajat, Valkeakosken soittokunta sekä Kotkien puhallinorkesteri). Olen esiintynyt myös yksin ja eri kokoonpanoissa monissa konserteissa (esim. Perkussion plus -tapahtuma Helsingin Musiikkitalossa, Pallo hallussa -konsertti Tampere-talossa sekä monissa Tampereen musiikkiakatemian eri konserteissa. Majaoja-kilpailussa 2015 sijoituin jaetulle toiselle sijalle. Pääsin suorittamaan asepalveluksen Varusmies-soittokunnassa. Sain juuri D-kurssin suoritettua arvosanalla 5.

    Tanel-Eiko Novikov (2000) is an Estonian percussionist. He began studying the percussion at the age of eight under the guidence of Kristjan Mäeots at the Tallinn Music High School, from which he graduated in 2019. He is currently studying at the Sundsgårdens Folkhögskola in Sweden with Johan Bridger.

    Tanel-Eiko has participated in several national and international competitions, winning a good deal of them or getting special rec-ognition. In 2016 he received 1st prize at the web competitions ENKOR and Great Composers Competition, based in the United States. That same year he won the St. Petersburg Open Youth Per-cussion Competition in Russia, performing in the solo marimba cat-egory. He also won the jury’s special recognition award, which gave him an opportunity to perform at the prestigious Mariinsky Theatre Concert Hall in St. Petersburg, Russia in 2017.

    In 2018, Tanel-Eiko won Classical Idols, a popular Estonian TV com-petition, and represented Estonia at the Eurovision Young Musicians contest in Edinburgh, Scotland. His preparations for the contest were made into a documentary by the Estonian Public Broadcasting (ERR).

    Tanel-Eiko has given dozens of solo recitals and performances all across Estonia, including a 2018 concert tour in most of the largest concert halls in the country (Estonia Concert Hall in Tallinn, Concert Hall ’’Vanemuine’’ in Tartu, Jõhvi Concert Hall in Jõhvi) and a recital celebrating the 24th birthday of ERR’s radio station Klassikaraadio at the historical 1st studio of the Estonian Radio (2019). He has also preformed at several international festivals and musical events, such as the Baltic brass instruments’ festival in Vilnius (2015), Percussion Plus festival in Tallinn (2016), WASBE conference In Prague (2016) and MustonenFest in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv (2019).

    He has performed as a soloist with the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra, Tallinn Chamber Or-chestra, Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, Tel Aviv Soloists Ensemble, Helsinki Police Band, Pärnu City Orchestra, Estonian Youth Wind Ensemble and many others.

  • Graduate of the State Music School Complex No. 4 in Warsaw. From the first year of his educa-tion he took part in regional and national com-petitions and percussion auditions. Since 2013, he has been a student of the percussion class of Piotr Kostrzewa (Sinfonia Varsovia orchestra timpanist). Winner of many competitions, includ-ing: 3rd place in the International Percussion Re-view for 1st grade pupils (Krasnystaw, 2010), 3rd place in the children’s ensemble competition “Duettino”. (Warsaw, 2011), 1st place in the Na-tional Competition of Percussion Bands CEA (Ra-dom, 2016), 1st place in the school competition for hearing education (Warsaw, 2017), 1st place in the competition “Only Online - musical confrontations of young people”. (Koszalin, 2017). In 2016, he took part in an Erasmus music exchange with Glasgow (UK). Since 2019 he is a student at the Hochschule für Musik Basel in Chriastian Dierstein’s class.

    Participant of many master classes and workshops - including: Impuls Academy Graz 2019 (Graz, Aus-tria), New York Jazz Masters International Workshop (Trzebnica 2016), 15 International Percussion Fo-rum (Żagań, 2015), Percussion Masterclass “At the Nile”. (Kolbuszowa, 2015), and many others. During the courses and workshops he had the opportunity to work with such musicians as: Christian Dierstein, Marta Klimasara, Shoko Sakai, Se-mi Hwang, Mika Takehara, Sylwia Żytyńska, Miłosz Pękala, Nippy Noya, Jose Torres, John H. Beck, John R. Beck, Binh Ngo, Stanisław Skoczyński, Bernard Maseli, Karol Szymanowski, Jacek Wota, Piotr Biskupski, Marian Rapczewski, Cezary Konrad.

    His numerous concerts include Festival ZeitRäume Basel 2019 (Switzerland), Rümlingen Festival 2018 (Switzerland), where he took part in the premiere performance of Manos Tsangaris’ work, a concert in Soho Factory with the Swiss group ImproContra as part of the Warsaw Museums Night 2018, and numerous appearances at the La Folle Journe Festival - Crazy Days of Music. Mikołaj Rytowski also participates in many prestigious orchestral projects, such as: Musikakademie der Studienstiftung des deutchen Volkes, “Rozterki Miłosne czyli Krakowiacy i Górale” (concerts with musicians from the Grand Theatre of the National Opera in Warsaw, 2015), Lutosławski International Youth Orchestra (Szczecin Philharmonic, 2017), Lutosławski Youth Orchestra (2 concert tours around Poland, 2017). He has also performed at the Warsaw National Philharmonic, the Witold Lutosławski Concert Studio in Warsaw, the European Krzysztof Penderecki Music Centre in Lusławice, the Krakow Philharmonic, the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw, the Academy of Music in Katowice and many others. Apart from his activity in the field of classical and contemporary music, he has also performed with the big band Szymanowski Young Power, jazz quartet and the orchestra of the Pijana Sypialnia Theatre.

    The centre of his interests is primarily chamber music and solo music. He is passionate about instrumen-tal theatre, performance and broadly understood new music.

    Eren Binici was born in 2006 in Eskişehir Turkey. After primary school, he started the middle school in Anadolu University State conservatory as per-cussion student with Atalay Altınok in 2017.he gave many concerts in An-adolu University campus in 2018. Currently is he studying in İrem Dekeli’s percussion class.

    Erkin Can was born in 2005 in Eskisehir, Turkey. After primary school, he start-ed the middle school in Anadolu University State Conservatory as a guitar student of Assoc. Prof. Emre Unlenen in 2015. The next year, he switched his major instrument and continued to the percussion department in 6th grade and was accepted to Can Unlusoy’s class.

    During the following two years, he participated in the Tepebasi Youth Sym-phony Orchestra “İki Elin Sesi Var” and took part in many concerts as a per-cussion member beside his education. While he was studying with Gokhan

    Sozuner for one and half year, he won the 3rd prize in the 1st Pera International Percussion Competition in April 2018. In November, he also won the 3rd prize of the 1st Istanbul Percussion Competition. In January 2019, he was selected among the top 12 in his own category after sending the audio-record for Southern California Marimba International Artist Competition and qualified for the semi-final round. Currently, he is studying in Irem Dekeli’s percussion class and accepted to high school in Anadolu Uni-versity State Conservatory.

    “Olen koululainen Kangasalan Pikkolan yläasteen 8. luokalla. Musiikki ja rytmi ovat kuuluneet elämääni pienestä lähtien. Aloitin ohjatun musiikinopiskelun (rummut) 8-vuotiaana. 12-vuotiaana aloitin lyömäsoitinopinnot. Jatkan niitä edelleen. Suh-taudun opintoihini tosissani ja innostuneesti.”

    Justus Hautakangas osoitti hyvin varhain kiinnostusta erityisesti jazz-musiikkia kohtaan. Hän rakenteli itse rumpusettejä ja jäljitteli ihailemiaan jazz-rumpa-leita kaikin tavoin. 5 vuotiaana hän pääsi Pirkanmaan musiikkiopistoon, Petri Juutilaisen bändikouluun. Samoihin aikoihin Justus tutustui Risto Skrikbergi-in, ja sai ensikosketuksen rudimentaaliseen rummutukseen. Opinnot Tamper-een konservatoriolla alkoivat 2016 Timo Hakalan ja Harri Lehtisen johdolla. Kiinostus Marimbaa kohtaan johti oman marimban hankkimiseen 2018.

    Justus soittaa konservatorion Borealis-orkesterissa. Hän on esittänyt rum-puimprovisaatiota mm. Sydämen asialla -hyväntekeväisyyskonsertissa ja har-

    rastaa katusoittoa. Hän myös laulaa poikakuoro Pirkanpojissa. Hän on levyttänyt 4 yksinlaulua ja yhden duon Yleisradion 100 lastenlaulua -taltiointiin.

  • Eemeli on kaarinalainen nuori mies, joka soittaa lyömäsoittimia Turun Kon-servatoriossa opettajanaan Olli Lehti. Eemeli on musiikkiluokkalainen, jota kiinnostaa soittamisen ohella myös tanssi, näytteleminen sekä laulaminen.

    Aloitin lyömäsoitinopiskelut v. 2014 konservatoriossa opettajani Toni Hietalan johdolla. Soitan myös Iskuryhmässä (kamariorkesterin bändi) sekä Porin nuorisosoittokunnan A-orkesterissa. Musiikin suhteen olen lähes kaikki- ruokainen, tosin räppi ei oikein “kolahda”.

    Mitja Koskiluoma (s. 4.4.2005) aloitti varsinaisen musiikinopiskelunsa 7-vuotiaana Musiikkikoulu Onnissa Nokialla Niko Ronimuksen oppilaana. Onnilassa monipuoliseen lyömäsoitinopiskeluun kuului alusta saakka myös bändisoitto ja muu yhteismusisointi. Muutamia vuosia myöhemmin Mitja siirtyi Pirkan Opiston musiikkiopistoon opettajanaan edelleen Niko Ronimus ja tällöin soitinvalikoima laajeni patarumpuihin ja Mitja sai en-sikosketuksensa myös sinfoniaorkesterissa soittamiseen. Mitja on pienestä pitäen soittanut myös jazzmusiikkia. Ensimmäinen isohko julkinen esiinty-minen tapahtui 10- vuotiaana Nokia Bigbandin vibrafonisolistina. Sittem-min Mitja on esiintynyt myös Narva Bigbandin ja Tampere Bigbandin sekä Imatra Bigband Campin orkestereiden solistina ja kuuluu nykyään Nokia BB:n vakisoittajiin. Tähänastisen uran kohokohtiin kuuluu esiintyminen Tampereen konservatorion Trio Next Generationin jäsenenä Tampere talon Suuressa salissa täydelle yleisölle Pallo haltuun- spektaak-kelissa viime keväänä. Toinen suuri kohokohta oli viime kesänä saapunut ilouutinen Mitjan tultua hy-väksytyksi Sibelius-Akatemian nuorisokoulutuksen opiskelijaksi sekä klassisen musiikin että jazzmusiikin osastoille. Syyskuun alussa alkoi opiskelu nuoriso-osastolla Antti Rislakin johdolla ja Pirkan Opistossa yhteistyö jatkuu Niko Ronimuksen ja pianonsoiton opettaja Vesa Kemin kanssa. Luonnollisesti Mitjalla on tähtäimessä muusikon ammatti.

  • Cetin Ozen was born in Ankara in 2005. He has been studying percus-sion with Prof. Aydın Mecid on a scholarship at Bilkent University Music Preparatory Primary School since 2015. He performed as child soloist in Fazıl Say’s Nazım Oratorio in Ankara, Bodrum and İstanbul concerts when he was 10 years old. He played A. Vivaldi’s E Major RV.267 violin concerto on marimba with Bilkent Symphony orchestra and V. Herbert’s March of the Toys on xylophon with Eskisehir Symphony Orchestra.

    He was one of the 6 finalists of Russia Culture TV’s 18. Nutcrackers Com-petition in Moscow in 2017 where he was awarded honorable mention. He won the first prize at International Marimba Competition in Bamberg on April 5th, 2018. He won the first prize at Russia International Percussion Competition in St. Petersburg on November 1st , 2018.

    Elmeri Vasama (s.2004) aloitti lyömäsoitinten soiton opiskelun Toni Hietalan oppilaana 6-vuotiaana Porin Palmgren-konservatoriossa. Elmeri on suorit-tanut musiikin perusteet 1-3 sekä musiikin historian opinnot. Hän on myös suorittanut lyömäsoitinten perustason ensimmäisen sekä toisen tutkinnon. Ensi vuonna on tarkoitus suorittaa lyömäsoitinten perustason kolmas tutkin-to. Elmeri kuuluu Porin Nuorisosoittokuntaan ja on saanut olla mukana er-ilaisissa konserteissa ja konserttimatkoissa kuten Ruotsissa. Elmeri on ollut soittamassa Porin Sinfoniettan kanssa yhteiskonsertissa. Elmerin sivuinstru-mentti on settirummut, joita hän opiskelee Joonas Anttilan opetuksessa.

    Born in Eskişehir province of Turkey in November 2005, Efe Yaşar started to perform drum with Ufuk Bulut in 2010. He was accepted to Anadolu University State Conservatory in 2015 and started to study in Can Ünlüsoy’s percussion class.

    In 2016, he participated in the Two Hands Sound Children’s Symphony Orchestra of Tepebaşı Municipality and took part in concerts here. In May 2017, he performed concert with Fazıl Say in Children’s Symphony Orchestra.

    He took stage in the Musical 14-53 at the Harbiye Muhsin Ertu-grul Stage in İstanbul, which directed by Faris Akarsu and Nebi Birgi.

    After winning the soloist competitions of Eskişehir Municipality Symphony Orchestra on December 2018 and Anadolu University State Conservatory Symphony Orchestra on March 2019, Efe Yaşar per-formed concerts as soloist with both orchestras.

    He is currently performing his works under the coaching of İrem Dekeli in Anadolu University State Conservatory High School.

Linkki sähköiselle ilmoit-tautumislomakkeelle avataan 1.2.2019.Sarja ASarjan A ilmoittautumisaika päättyy 15.5.2019. Sarjaan järjestetään esikarsinta, joka toteutetaan seuraavassa kuvatulla tavalla.A-sarjan karsintatehtävä: Vapaavalintainen teos mallet-soittimelle sekä teos pikkurummulle tai lyömäsoittimistolle. Esityksen soiva kesto saa olla enintään 10 min. Teokset tai niiden osat on soitet-tava ilman editointia videotiedostolle. Karsintatal-lenteella voi olla kilpailussa esitettäviä teoksia.Kilpailutoimikunnan jäsenistä koostuva karsinta-raati valitsee sarjaan A enintään 12 osallistujaa.

    V Kilpailijakohtainen osallistujamaksu on A-sarjassa 100 €, B-sarjassa 60 € ja C-sarjassa 40 €. Katselmussarjan osallistumismaksu on 30 €. Osal-listumismaksu peritään kilpailuun valituilta. Kilpaili-joilla ja alle 18-vuotiaiden kilpailijoiden huoltajilla on vapaa pääsy kilpailun aikana järjestettäviin konsertteihin.

    VI Sarjojen soittojärjestykset arvotaan viimeistään 1.10.2019, ja niistä tiedotetaan kilpailun internet-sivulla majaojapercussion.fi.

    VII Kilpailutoimikunta voi tehdä tarvittaessa muu-toksia aikatauluun.

    VIII Kilpailijoiden sekä heidän huoltajiensa ja opettajiensa on itse huolehdittava matkoistaan, majoituksestaan ja ruokailuistaan.IX Kilpailu ja siihen liittyvät tilaisuudet ovat julkisia. Järjestäjillä on oikeus ilman korvausta äänittää, radioida, valokuvata, videoida, televisioida tai lähettää Internetissä kilpailijoiden esityksiä. Esity-sten kaikenlainen tallentaminen kilpailun aikana ilman järjestäjien lupaa on kielletty.

    X Tuomaristolla on oikeus keskeyttää esitys, jos säädetty soiton enimmäiskesto ylittyy.

    XI Kilpailun säännöt on laatinut kilpailutoimikunta, joka myös ratkaisee sääntöjen noudattamiseen liittyvät kysymykset. Kilpailun tuomaristo ratkai-see kilpailusarjojen voittajat ja palkintosijat sekä jakaa palkintosummat säännöissä kuvatulla tavalla.     I The Majaoja Percussion Competition is organized by the Tampere Music Academy in cooperation with Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra, the Sibelius Academy of the University of the Arts and the Pori Palmgren Conservatory. The competition takes place 2.– 5.10.2019 in Tampere, Finland. II Eligibility and CategoriesThe competition is open to all percussionists, regardless of nationality.The competition is divided into three age catego-ries and an open Review Category:A: Open to all with no age restrictionsB: Participants born in 1999 or laterC: Participants born in 2004 or laterReview Category has no age limit. The Review Category is open for chamber music groups. A link to the online regis-tration form will be activated on 1 February 2019.Category AThe deadline for registrations for Category A is 15 May 2019. The participants will be pre-selected with the following method:Qualification assignment for Category A: A piece for a mallet instrument and a piece for snare drum or multipercussion. Total duration of the music is 10 minutes (the pieces can be shortened). The pieces or their movements must be recorded on video live with no editing. The video may also in-clude pieces to be performed in the competition. The pre-selection jury consisting of competition board members will select the maximum of 12 participants for the Category A.

    VI The performance order will be determined by a draw by 1.10.2019 and announced on the compe-tition website at majaojapercussion.fi.

    VII The competition board may change the schedule if needed.

    VIII Competitors and their guardians must arrange their own travel, accommodation and meals.

    IX The competition and related events are open to the public. The organizers reserve the permis-sion to record, photograph, film and broadcast on radio, television or online the participants’ per-formances. All recording without the organiser’s permission is prohibited.

    X The jury and review board have the right to in-terrupt the performance, if the maximum duration is exceeded.

    XI The rules were drawn by the competition board. The competition board also answers all questions regarding the following of the rules. The competition jury decides the winners and runners-up and distributes the prize sums as stated in the rules. Questions about the practical arrange-ments of the competitions are to be directed to the producer of the competition.

  • Marta Klimasara (DE) The polish musician has been living in Germany since 1994. After winning the »World Marimba Competition« in 1999 as well as the 2nd prize in the »Krzystof Penderecki International Competition« Marta Klimasara was recom-mended the 1st prize of the» International ARD Music Contest« in 2001. She was also decorated with the prize of the public for her winning charm and personality.

    Today Marta Klimasara is a highly acknow-ledged percussionist, famed also outside the borders of her new home; her international renown rests not only on her tournées in Europe, Africa, Nord and South America and Asia but also on her many concerts with orchestras such as SWR Stuttgart, Munich and Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra, National Philharmony Warsaw, Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra and Stuttgart Philharmonic Orchestra. She also produces radio and television recordings with the Bavarian and Hessian radio institutions, France Musique, Polskie Radio, and Deutschlandradio.

    In 2004 she became professor at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Stuttgart.

    She-e Wu (US) has appeared as a solo artist at the 25th, 27th and 30th Percussive Arts Society International Convention; Bach Symposium/Variation Festival in Alice Tully Hall; Phila- delphia Orchestra Chamber Music Series; Chicago Symphony Orchestra in Carnegie Hall; Chicago Cham-ber Musicians and as well as festivals, universities and conserva-tories throughout Europe, Asia, and United States.

    Ms. Wu has composed works for percussion, released solo, chamber, and concerto recordings, commissioned new works for percussion, participated and hosted numerous summer workshops and seminars, designed mallets and instruments as a consultant, and served as a judge for international percussion competitions in France, Greece, Italy, Japan, and as well as the Southern California Marimba Competition, Atlanta Snare Drum

    Competition, and PASIC International College Percussion Ensemble Competition/Large Percussion Ensemble Composition Contest/Marimba Competition.

    Ms. Wu is the director of percussion program at Northwestern University, and she is an endorser of Majestic, Mapex, Zildjian, Innovative Percussion and Evans.

  • Harri Lehtinen (FI) (born 1968) started his career as a drum-mer at the age of 13 in rock bands and touring dance orchestras. At 16, he enrolled at the Tampere Conservatory to study percussion instruments under Esko Vuorinen and Tiina Laukkanen. Lehtinen has studied also at the University of Toronto with the musicians of Nexus, particularly Russell Hartenberg and Robin Engelman. In 2016, Lehtinen graduated as a Doctor of Music at the DocMus Department of the Sibelius Academy. He works as a lector of percussion at the Tampere Music Academy since 2000. During the past two years, Lehtinen has taught and hosted master classes for example in Portugal, Spain, Denmark and Estonia. During his career, Lehtinen has worked as both a percussionist and timpanist with most of the Finnish symphony orchestras including the Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra, The Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Lahti Symphony Orchestra, and many more. He has performed as a soloist with the Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra, Pori Sinfonietta, Lapland Chamber Orchestra and the Pyynikki Symphony. Additionally, Lehtinen also works with several chamber music ensembles and small ensembles and records music both within and outside of the realm of classical music. Since 2013, Lehtinen has worked as the percussionist of the Kuhmo Chamber Music Festival.

    Timothy Ferchen (FI) was born in Niagara Falls, New York in 1947. He attended the Eastman School of Music in Roches-ter New York studying with William Street and John Beck, and The Catholic University of America in Washington D.C studying with Jack Moore of Philadelphia. After spending 4 years in the United States Air Force Orchestra he moved to New York to join the Steve Reich and Musicians Ensemble in 1972 and worked with the ensem-ble until 2000. After moving to Finland Timothy Ferchen joined the Radio Symphony Orchestra in 1977 and remained its principal

    percussionist until 2004. During his career he has actively participated in solo and chamber music concerts throughout the world. In 1980 he formed the Breath Ensemble, which performed percussion music in Finland for over 20 years. His composition writing started with music for the Breath Ensemble and students at the Sibelius Academy where he was a percussion instructor during the 1990’s. Since then his music has been performed in the United States, Canada, and troughout Scandinavia. The Finnish Radio Orchestra has performed his marimba concerto and a composition for solo percussion and orchestra using only their bodies. His works are published by Edition Svitzer and Music Finland.

    Antti Rislakki (FI) aloitti lyömäsoitintensoiton 1977. Hän valmistui Tampereen konservatoriosta 1997 opettajanaan Tiina Laukkanen ja jatkoi opintojaan Sibelius-Akatemiassa Tim Ferchenin ja Lassi Erkkilän johdolla. Toronton yliopistossa hänen opettajinaan olivat Russell Hartenberger ja Robin Engelman, jotka molemmat ovat lyömäsoitinyhtye NEXUS:n jäseniä. Antti Rislakki on toiminut vuodesta 2000 Tapiola Sinfoniettan patarumpujen äänenjohtajana ja hän toimii myös lyömäsoitinmusiikin lehtorina Taideyliopiston Sibelius-Akatemiassa.
