Experience Coming from an extensive sporting background my journey into the fitness industry came naturally through developing and fine tuning my own training which then led to the desire to train others. After coaching both basketball and soccer, working with sportspeople and helping them develop as athletes became my focus with emphasis on injury prevention and rehabilitation. I am constantly trying to learn and further develop as a trainer I find variation is the key to staying motivated and progress towards fitness goals.

Fitness Quote “Growing stronger is about accumulating wisdom, learning from your mistakes and inspiring others to become the strongest version of themselves.” Elliot Hulse

Healthy Holiday Hints Below are a few hints to help you though the Christmas season

Don’t skip meals. It may seem logical to skip lunch to save room for a dinner party. But arriving starved may result in overeating, and drinking on an empty stomach will give you a quicker buzz, which is more likely to lead to mindless munching.

Even if you do not have time to make it to the gym, stay active in other ways. Walking, cleaning, and lifting some light weights at home are all good ideas.

People who sleep less weigh more. Make sure you get your ZZZs, even during the busy holiday season. Make plans for January. Sometime people feel a post Christmas let-down, but if you have something to

look forward to, you’ll be more likely to stay upbeat.

YMCA Epping Celebrates 50 Years

On 19th

November 2016 the Epping community, as well as past and present members came together to celebrate YMCA Epping’s 50th Birthday. The celebrations included a mega raffle, jumping castle, kids craft, face painting, bbq and cakes, as well as karate, cricket and soccer clinics, and a badminton tournament.

One of the highlights of the day was a special legends lunch held to recognise the contribution of the many people who have helped to make YMCA Epping great! Amongst the guests was the centre’s first manager Karl Peksis, long time gymnastics coach and past centre manager Ken Benson and Barcelona Olympian Lisa Read. The birthday cake was cut by YMCA NSW CEO Leisa Hart and Epping state MP Damian Tudehope.

“This milestone was worth celebrating as the YMCA at Epping was the first suburban centre to be opened in NSW,” said Jimmy Ball, YMCA Epping centre manager.

YMCA Epping Wishing Tree

This Christmas YMCA Epping will be supporting Give and Take, a volunteer based organisation that distributes goods to families in need. Please help make a family’s Christmas brighter by donating toys, canned or non-perishable food, toiletries, books or baby goods. Your donations can be left in the Christmas sack at reception.

Gymnasts are assessed and receive merit ribbons for their performance. This year YMCA Epping attended 3 gala days and held one day at Epping (Winter Wonderland). We commend the efforts of our gymnasts and look forward to attending more of these rewarding days.
