The Science Congress will be inaugurated by the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi on January 3. The fishermen of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka were also given deep sea fishing boats and transponders that will help them to navigate in the deep sea. Speaking on the occasion, the Prime Minister emphasised on agro exports, value-addition of produce, marketing and doubling of farmers income by 2022. The objective of the programme is doubling the farmers' income through implementation of two activities such as training and demonstration of mini incubator for supply of chicks and scientific goat farming. The Hub will act as a Nodal centre and as the platform for interaction of scientist & farmers to address the issues of development of backyard livestock and poultry sector of the Island farmers. As a part of the Hub activity, every month five farmers including women, rural unemployed youth will be selected and trained on scientific goat farming and operation of Mini Incubator for supply of chicks on regular basis for poultry farming at the Main Hub.
