HOW TO USE YOUR PASS
Before you use your York Pass, please note the following important points:• Your York Pass is programmed to be activated the first time it is used at an attraction.• It will then be active for the day or consecutive days.• One day comprises of one calendar day, not a 24 hour period. The pass will expire at midnight on the last day of its duration. • Each York Pass is allocated a unique QR code, which is swiped at each attraction visited.• The York Pass is also subject to a “purse value” of maximum gate prices related to the number of days. For example, with a one day adult pass you can visit up to £60 worth of attractions. Once you have reached your “purse value” for the total duration of your pass, the pass will also expire. At each attraction visited the attraction admission price is deducted from the purse value. Note: Passes can only be used at each attraction once.
At the AttractionWhen you get to the attraction the benefits of the York Pass become clear. Each participating attraction has installed a QR Code reader to ensure convenience and ease of access for all York Pass holders.
• Go to the admission point bearing the York Pass signs or follow the instructions set out on the attraction page.• The attendant will record your pass details.• The entry price for the attraction will be deducted from your York Pass.

Explore the Secret 18c Chapel or even stay in our refurbished 3 star Accommodation. Discover our dangerous past and work today. Enjoy delicious food and coffee served in our Café or peaceful Garden. From 28 March 2015, the Museum, Bed and Breakfast and Conferencing facilities will be closed for refurbishment until late summer 2015. The Café, Atrium & Chapel will remain open throughout this period.

Wartime MemoriesSituated in a 22-acre parkland site on the former World War Two RAF Bomber Command Station at Elvington, near York, the Yorkshire Air Museum is Britain’s largest independent air museum and home to the Allied Air Forces Memorial. Eden Camp, just outside Malton, offers an authentic insight into life during World War Two. Set in the grounds of an original prisoner of war camp, it allows you to experience the sights, sounds and smells of wartime Britain, and pay tribute to the men and women who endured this momentous event in world history.

FREE THINGS TO DO IN YORK
Watching your wallet and seeking free things to do during your York stay? There are plenty of ways to see the city on a shoestring:
City WallsSee York from above when you wander along the walls. First built by the Romans in 71AD and covering over two miles, they have guarded the city through some of its most tumultuous history. Around 2.5 million walk the walls each year and it takes approximately two hours to complete a full circuit. There are five main bars or gateways, one Victorian gateway, one postern (a small gateway) and 45 towers – check each off as you go!
York Cat TrailIf you are a cat lover you are in for a treat when you follow the York Cat Trail. The furry felines are part of the city’s history; statues have been dotted on buildings around York for centuries and were originally created to frighten away mice and rats. Follow the trail from its beginning outside York Glass – home to York Lucky Cats – in the Shambles and look closely above doorways and down ginnels until you have found them all.
National Railway MuseumThe largest railway museum in the world is located here in York and features a fascinating insight into the world of trains. From the social history of rail transport to the carriages that transported royalty, the design of the Eurostar or the arrival of the well-travelled and much-loved Paddington Bear, you will find it all here. Entry is free to everyone.

Museum GardensA serene space in the centre of the city, York Museum Gardens offer visitors a lush, idyllic spot in which to pause for thought. Bordered by the City Walls, River Ouse and the awe-inspiring ruins of St Mary’s Abbey, this is parkland that is steeped in history. The early English and Romanesque ruins dominate the gardens and the other architectural spots within the site are connected to the abbey: the 12th century Gatehall was once the main entrance to the abbey’s grounds, while the medieval half-timbered Hospitium alongside the river was once a guesthouse for abbey visitors.
Guided Walking Tours -Association of Voluntary GuidesFree city walking tours leave every day at 10.15am, 2.15pm and 6.45pm in the summer from outside the York Art Gallery, Exhibition Square. Tours run mornings only during the winter at 10.15am and evening walks take place in August and September only. There is no need to book – just turn up. This service is run by the Association of Voluntary Guides.
