The names of ten persons whocould testify that he was at Lavnllette. N. J., on the evening ofSeptember 14, when his brotherin-law,the Rev. Edward WheelerHall, and Mrs. Eleanor R. Mills,the choir singer, were shot, were
given by Henry Stevens, brotherof Mrs. Hall. When seen at hiscottage at Lavalette, Mr. Stevensgave a detailed account, of hismovements from the eevning ofSeptember 14 to the evening ofSeptember 16. He declared that hewas fishing on the beach in frontof his home at the time the murderis believed to have been committed,and produced what appearedto be an almost perfectalibi by naming the persons witnwhom he had been until he wentto bed shortly after 11 o'clock.
