Is it just me, or does everyone feel rushed these days? The pace at which we live can be crazy at times. Did you know that full-time employees in America now work an average of 47 hours per week versus the standard of some years ago of 40 hours? As a matter of fact, fifty percent of employed Americans now work in excess of forty hours per week. I believe in working hard and most people I know do so as well. I know most of my weeks would put me in the category of those working more than forty hours per week. Unless you are retired, you may likely fall in that category as well. But, what is the price we are paying?
Aside from undue stress related to time and deadlines, what is happening to the family? If families are spending less and less time together what is going to happen to the family? I am afraid we are seeing what is happening to the family. More important than the stress issue and even the family is our relationship with Christ. Consider this, we never read in the Bible of God being rushed. The only time we ever see God running is portrayed in the story of the Prodigal son. So what does this teach us if we evaluate our pace of living?
If we are not careful, the pace of this world will pull us away from God. In Psalm 73, Asaph wrote, “When I thought how to understand this, It was too painful for me—Until I went into the sanctuary of God; Then I understood their end” (v. 16-17). If you read this entire psalm, it will shed light on how easily one can get caught up in the ways of this world and the necessity of drawing near to God. Let me encourage you this month to spend some quality time with the Lord, but know in advance, He cannot be rushed.
Praising God for all He has done, is doing, and is going to do! In Christ,
You don’t have to go through it alone. Most people will tell you that separation and divorce are the most painful and stressful experiences they’ve ever faced. It’s a confusing time when you feel isolated and have lots of questions about issues you’ve never faced before.

Guatemala Mission Team Departing...
Pray for our Guatemala Mission Team leaving for Los Palmares on Friday, October 3rd. They will be moving a water line, renovating a part of the school, training local pastors, door to door evangelism, and holding revival meetings during their stay.
The imagination can run wild in October as the air begins to cool, trees begin to expose the supporting branches, and piles of leaves line the streets. But is creativity bound to the mind of
the child or the season? The Bible expresses the character of God in all sorts of ways. His Word reveals that the Lord is merciful, kind, compassionate, loving, right, holy, discriminating, and so on. The Bible also reveals an imaginative, creative God.
Do you wonder if growing up and experiencing the sin-tainted world, our imagination becomes bound to what exists only by sight and logic? Too often, we stifle the Image in which we were created. Genesis 1 gives us the portrait of a creative God Who breathed life into each one of us (Ps. 139). The same God of Genesis 1 lives inside the Christ-follower. What a truth!
I have heard people describe Christianity as “boring” and “all about rules.” Is it? Why would someone say that? Have they experienced relationship with Jesus? Christ-following ought to be characterized as imaginative, exciting, and fresh. October gives us a chance to tell others about Christ, but also to grow in the relationship with Jesus so others see the vibrant side of Christianity in His bride. As the weather begins to bring change all around us, let others see the change of Jesus in us. Isn’t that radical transformation?
See you Sunday and thanks for praying for the Guatemala Team!
