You Have to Have a SystemThe human body is like a complex organization that has an important job to get done on a tight deadline.
In order to get everything done perfectly and on time, it has to use
a system. Actually, the human body uses many systems that
work side by side.
On average, your body has about 5 liters of blood
continually traveling through it by way of the circulatory
system. The heart, the lungs, and the
blood vessels work together to form the circle part of the circulatory system. The
pumping of the heart forces the blood on its journey.
The primary function of the Respiratory system is to supply the blood with oxygen in order for the
blood to deliver oxygen to all parts of the body. The Respiratory system
does this through breathing. When we breathe, we inhale oxygen and exhale
carbon dioxide. This exchange of gases is the Respiratory system's
means of getting oxygen to the blood.
Organs that make up the
Digestive tract are the mouth,
esophagus, stomach,
small intestine, large intestine also
called the colon rectum, and
anus
How is food digested?
Digestion involves mixing food with digestive juices,
moving it through the digestive tract, and breaking down large molecules of food into smaller molecules. Digestion begins in the mouth, when you chew and
swallow, and is completed in the small intestine.
Carbohydrates. The Dietary Guidelines for Americans
2005 recommend that 45 to 65 percent of total daily
calories be from carbohydrates. Foods rich in carbohydrates include
bread, potatoes, dried peas and beans, rice, pasta, fruits, and vegetables.
Many of these foods contain both starch and fiber.
The nervous system is a network of specialized cells that communicate information about an
organism's surroundings and itself.
The Skeletal System
The Skeletal System serves many important functions; it provides the shape and form for our bodies in addition to
supporting, protecting, allowing bodily movement,
producing blood for the body, and storing minerals.
The human body contains more than 650 individual muscles which are attached to the skeleton, which provides the pulling power for us to move around.
The main job of the muscular system is to provide movement for the body. The muscular system
consist of three different types of muscle tissues : skeletal, cardiac, smooth. Each of these different tissues has the ability to contract, which then allows body movements and functions. There are two types
of muscles in the system and they are the involuntary muscles, and the voluntary muscles.
The muscle in which we are allow to control by ourselves are called the voluntary muscles and the ones we can? control are the involuntary muscles. The heart, or the cardiac muscle, is an example of
involuntary muscle.
What is Disease?
Disease is a state of discomfort in
which the normal functioning
of the body is disturbed.
Communicable and Non-Communicable Diseases
