Contour Line

• Pencil is stuck to paper- 1 continuous line• Work slowly….. Pencil is drawing exactly what

the eye is seeing, little by little

1. Focus eyes on a starting place

2. Place pencil on paper

3. Imagine your eyes are the pencil. As your eye moves, the pencil moves. SLOWLY at the same pace

Do not take your eyes off the form, do not look at the paper, move your eyes slowly along the contour, the pencil should be moving along the same contour.

Try to coordinate your pencil with your eyes; do not move your eyes faster than your drawing

Contour or Outline?

details- INSIDE the outline?

Contour Outline

Blind Contour- look at object not a paper

Modified Contour- look at object 90% of time, glance at drawing occasionally

Cross Contour- lines laying ACROSS object. Not outline.

Contour Drawing- uses both blind and modified and cross- contour.

Line is most important
