Age of vikings - Team

Rules

Teams will consist of two (2) players or team members. Each team member will construct and play a 4-pt Warband.

Each team member’s warband Players will select a Faction they will be using from the SAGA: Age of Vikings supplement. This can be any of the 12 factions from pages 8-88 of the supplement. Players will then need to decide how many points are allocated to Hearthguard, Warriors or Levy and use that same allocation in each of the games of the event.

How the units are sized and armed can be determined at the deployment phase of each game.Old friends, New Enemies, Swords for Hire and Relics & Artifacts are not allowed in this event.

A team list of your warband consisting of every unit must be emailed to the Judges by March 15th.A single printed list must be brought to the event to show your opponent upon request. Note- this is to show during the game and is not required to hand over for keeping after.

Each team must bring: rule book, the most current published rules for their Warband, and allmaterials needed to play a game/report the results – to include SAGA dice, battle board, measuring devices, templates, and a writin implement

Each team must also bring 2 "loot markers" per team, on a base of 25mm or greater.

For movement purposes, all units are considered as friendly units within a team. However, a player may only activate, or play SAGA abilities on his own units, as he does not control his teammate’s units. Your SAGA abilities may never affect your teammate’s units, unless these abilities affect all units on the table.

When a SAGA ability or special rule refers to “an opposing Warband” you must choose which of the two enemy Warbands you will target. An “all opposing Warbands” ability or special rule effects both opposing Warbands.

Turns are taken per side rather than playing a turn for each player. During a side’s turn, each of its members plays the phases simultaneously. (For example, during the Orders Phase, each player of that side generates and rolls his SAGA Dice, uses Orders abilities, etc.). For the sake of clarity, each SAGA ability or special rule must be triggered and resolved before triggering another ability or special rule. This facilitates a smooth game flow, and gives ample time for opponents to react to the triggering of abilities or game effects.

During the Activation Phase, players of a side can must play Activation abilities or trigger a special rule one at a time. Each Activation or special rule must be entirely resolved before moving to the next one. We recommend a strict application of this rule, as it prevents confusion and misunderstanding.

Each team member maintains their own saga dice pool. If both teammates use SAGA dice with the same symbols, they may exchange their SAGA Dice between themselves during the Orders Phase. They may not exchange SAGA dice that have been placed on their Battle Board, and for each SAGA die given, one SAGA die must be received in exchange.

Page 4: you to - AdeptiConVikings supplement. This can be any of the 12 factions from pages 8-88 of the supplement. Players will then need to decide how many points are allocated to Hearthguard,

No team DiceA team immediately loses the game if at the start of any turn one warband does not generate any SAGA Dice. Game ends, and VPs are scored, winner determined.

Slaughter PointsAt the end of each tournament round players will record Slaughter Points (or SP). We use SP as a tie breaker for event placing. Reminder - the Berzerkers awards are based off the total SP.

COUNTING SLAUGHTER POINTS:Slaughter Points (SPs) are gained based on the number of models the opposing Warbands have lost during the battle. Each figure lost is calculated using the chart below. All fractions are rounded up.

Warlord General or “Lesser” Warlord = 3 Slaughter Points.Hearthguard = 1 Slaughter Point per Hearthguard.Warriors = 1 Slaughter Point for every 2 Warriors.Levy = 1 Slaughter Point for every 3 Levy.

Length of Game

Each team member rolls a D6. Add each teams’ cumulative rolls and the team with the highest total becomes

the first team. The first team begins terrain deployment using the Setting Up section of the Saga rulebook,

pg. 48.

The game lasts for 6 turns or until time expires.

Deployment & start of game

Determine the winner by counting up massacre points as described in the End of Game section of Clash of

Warlords, pg. 49 of the Saga rulebook. If a team has at least 8 massacre points and at least 3 more massacre

points than their opponent, they win. Any other result is a tie.

victory conditions

The first team deploys half the units from each of their warbands within 18” of their long table edge. Their

opponents then place all their units within 18” of their long table edge. The first team then places the rest of

their warband.

Once deployed, the first team starts their first turn with each warlord rolling and placing no more than 3

Saga dice

special rulesAfter deployment and for the first turn only, each warlord on the first team rolls and places no more than 3

Saga dice.

War Cry: Once per game, a warlord can roll one additional SAGA dice more than what their warband

generates. This cannot surpass the 8 Saga dice cap.

DeploymentAfter terrain is set, the first team deploys half the units from each of their warbands within 12” of their

table edge. Their opponents then place all their units within 12” of their table edge. The first team then

places the rest of their units.

special rulesAfter deployment and for the first turn only, each warlord on the first team rolls and places no more than 3

Saga dice.

Loot markers count as impassable terrain pieces when they’re on the table and can never be affected by any

Saga abilities. To capture a loot marker, a unit must finish its movement with a figure in contact with the

marker. At the end of this movement, the loot marker is removed and given to the capturing unit. Note the

loot-carrying unit.

Gold is heavy! The first time a loot marker is captured, the capturing unit cannot activate again that turn. A

loot-carrying unit has its move reduced to 4” and can only carry one loot. Mounted units carrying loot

suffer a fatigue after each move or "charge." A loot carrying unit cannot drop or hand off the loot. {Eric, this

addresses Pauls concern about a conga line taking the loot off the table}

When a loot-carrying unit loses a melee, the winner may seize the loot. If the winner seizes the loot, the loot

marker is handed over the winner. If not, the loot is kept by the losing unit. When the last figure in a

loot-carrying unit dies from ranged weapons, the loot is placed on the table where the last figure was

removed. When the last figure in a loot-carrying unit dies in melee, the winner may seize the loot or let it

be placed on the table where the last figure was removed.

layout

Length of Game

Place 3 loot markers in the middle of the table down the center line. A first loot marker is placed in the

center of the table, the next two to its left and right, each 18” away. Each player rolls a D6. Add each

teams’ cumulative rolls and the team with the highest total becomes the first team. The first team begins

terrain deployment using the Setting Up section of the Saga rulebook, pg. 48. No terrain can be placed

within 6” of a loot marker.

The game lasts until all loot markers are removed from the table or time expires.
