Using the visual materials The Visuals assist the teacher in presenting the lesson and aid the student in the learning process. The visuals consist of a quarterly theme poster that presents the subject of the quarter, three unit posters that are simple, colorful reminders of each unit’s theme, thirteen lesson posters and twenty-six photomasters that may be used as overhead transparencies or copied and handed out to the students. Unit posters should be posted at the beginning of a unit and remain up throughout the quarter. The weekly teaching posters that belong to each unit may be posted under them or used separately as a teaching aid.

UNIT POSTERS Before beginning a unit of study, place unit posters in a prominent place on the classroom wall. Allow enough room to put up the lesson posters that relate to each lesson in the unit.

UNIT 1 The lessons in Unit 1 will take students on a journey through the expanse of God’s creation. The lessons examine many of its marvels and show students how a knowledge of these wonders will enable them to defend their faith.

UNIT 2 The lessons in Unit 2 examine closely the earth before and after the great flood and look at man’s stewardship of it.

UNIT 3 The lessons in Unit 3 look closely at man and consider the ways sin has affected him.

TEACHING POSTERS AND VISUALS Teaching posters should be used at the appropriate time in the lessons each week.

LESSON 1 Lesson 1 Poster reminds students God is the Creator of all things and that we should reject the false teachings about creation. Hand out copies of Photomaster 1-1. There are four pictures that make up two sets of objects. In one set (pictures B and C) are things man constructs. In the second set (pictures A and D) are things God has created. Photomaster 1-2 contains facts about our sun. Students should write a paragraph about how these facts help us see God’s logical orderliness in His creative works.

LESSON 2 Lesson 2 Poster reminds students there is danger in rebelling against authority. Use it to show students the conse-quences suffered by Adam and his descendants are the result of rebellion against God’s authority. Hand out copies of Photomaster 2-1. Students are to list three authority figures and the consequences for not obeying them. Hand out copies of Photomaster 2-2. Students should list an example of how man rejects authority in the home, the school and the church.

LESSON 3 Lesson 3 Poster is in the form of a magazine cover that predicts dramatic changes in the universe that will one day occur. Hand out copies of Photomaster 3-1 and have students read 2 Peter 3:12, 13 and answer the two questions. Hand out copies of Photomaster 3-2 and have students read Genesis 3:17-19 and Revelation 21:1—22:5 and answer the statements in the circles.

Man has come a long way since the Garden of Eden. Contrary to what the evolutionists say, he has not evolved into a better level of behavior. Second Timothy 3:1-5 gives us a look into man’s future and describes what many will be like.

Read the passage and then make a list of the characteristics that show natural man is on a downward path of behavior.

If the Lord does not return first, what are some ways you think life will change during the next one hundred years?

Discoveries in the field of medicine and a better understanding of personal hygiene have made it possible for modern man to comfortably live an average of seventy to eighty years. Scientific technology has advanced more in the past one hundred years than in all the years since the flood. In 1903 the Wright brothers flew a distance of one hundred twenty feet in twelve seconds. In 1961, only fifty-eight years later, a Russian became the first human to orbit the earth in a spacecraft.

Circle the four top reasons you believe young teens might give for failing to be accountable for their actions.

I do not have to account for what I do; I am too young.

It is too much trouble to be accountable to someone for what I do.

I do not feel I have to account to any-one for what I do.

I could not control myself, so I do not think I have to account for what I did.

I do not have the time to account to someone for what I do.

I forgot.

q Reading the Bible

q Obeying school rules

q Attending church faithfully

q Doing a good job when you are assigned a task

Why do you suppose so many lessons have been written about the “armour of God”? The answer is that God’s armor is the Christian’s defense against the aggressive assault of the forces of Satan. In Ephesians 6:13-17 the biblical description of the “armour of God” depicts a Roman soldier. Put the Christian warrior in modern-day attire and identify the various parts of the Christian armor. For help, look up the verses.
