Condition Assessment Extran will inspect the ACHE to ascertain current performance;

Checking mechanical aspects of the unit for soundness and correct installation

Measure air flow performance

Take noise measurements around the unit

Measure temperature on the inlet and outlet of the air side

Check pressure drop across the cooler bundle

Gather tube side performance data

Rate the unit within our thermal design software

Reverse Engineering Extran will work with your Engineers to gather all relevant information about the ACHE (original data sheet, drawings, MDR files, Client specs, etc.) to enable us to simulate the cooler on our thermal design software. If data and drawings are missing, we can offer to perform site mechanical measurements to provide the relevant data. In doing this we set a baseline to check our coolers actual performance against.

External and Internal Cleaning One of the biggest impacts on performance lose for an ACHE is external fouling of the finned tubes. Duty of a fouled unit can be improved by as much as 50% with proper cleaning of the fins. Extran uses a semi automated pressure cleaning system to perform this task, which eliminates potential fin damage from hand held cleaning equipment. We can also offer internal tube cleaning services for units where the client feels their fluids may the fouling and causing a reduction in duty.

Upgrades / Performance Improvements If after rectifying damaged or improperly installed mechanical equipment and performing a through clean of the cooler, the unit is still not performing to your required duty, or due to process needs an increase in duty is required, Extran can help with the following services/changes.

The existing fan and motor/drive parameters can be checked against what would be expected for that model fan, highlighting the expected noise level at time of manufacture.

By monitoring the process and air side conditions of the cooler, service intervals can be scheduled for the right time, ensuring ongoing productivity and performance.
